Hey guys. New rider here with a new 250 Ninja.

1) What are your tips for winterizing a bike yourself? Or would you just have it professionally stored?
2) Know anyone near Riverdale with a little extra garage space over the winter? :)

Thanks!

I put mine in my garage. Plug in my battery tender, close my garage.

Open garage when roads are dry, ride, put in garage, plug in battery tender, close garage.

You can add a fuel stabilizer as well.

to add to above.. fill up your tires and put it on stands if you can. or put some wood underneath the tires so they dont develop flat spots.

ps. look at the weather today! no need for winterizing yet

Some steps to help you think about what you may do..

1) put fuel stabilizer in tank and fill up. Ride for 5mins
2) clean bike
3) good time to change oil perhaps?
4) check tire pressure
5) Put bike on Stands
6) pull battery from bike and take indoors and place on battery tender. Do NOT leave battery on cold basement floor!
6) cover bike

Consult your Owners Manual. There are instructions there for storage.

ehhh....are the 250's still carb'ed? Would recommend draining the carbs as well. Couple of ways you can do that.

Either remove the battery and put on a tender.

Fill the tank up completely.

Doesn't matter where you leave the battery cold concrete floor is fine. The don't leave it on the floor is from back when batteries were made of wood and rubber new battery cases are fine.

Yep, I rode my bike to work today. I will bring it to Heritage Auto tonight to store it for the winter for me. My bones can't take the chilly rides.
