Nascar - engines and tires a flyin'

Growing up in a family that all loved NASCAR, I can't bear to watch it anymore.

Of the MANY reasons I find the sport ridiculous, this is one of them.

Nobod can settle to finish where they are on the last lap of any race. Instead they try to make stupid moves and end up wrecking half the damn field and turning millions of dollars of racing equipment into scrap. For what? To gain 5 points for leading a lap? Guess what, no you got no points because you went flying *** over tea kettle into the fence.

They all ***** about the lack of good sponsorship now and trying to cut costs. You wanna cut costs? Stop wrecking so many cars every weekend and watch the costs plummet.

They're going to analyze this incident to death and design better fences and better walls, and claim to make it safer, but it wont be. What they wont do is blame the drivers who are the cause of all this bs. If they all just used their heads and realized finishing 2nd,3rd,4th,8th,17th is better than not finishing at all and costing your team assloads of money this would not happen nearly as often.

That was a great ending to a really good race, (even tho I don't like Stewert)
I have a hard time feeling any sorrow for the 'big money' teams........but there were some newcomers who ran clean and smart all day, saving it for the end, only to be consumed.
Should be good tomorrow.

I have to agree with NEWMAN.....Making sudden and unnecessary swerves, so as to be driving like a goalie like that....if it happened in roadracing to obviosuly circumvent a drafting driver/rider from passing would surely result in "avoidable contact" penalties. NASCRAP tolderates that?

I'm excited to see at least one chick lead a lap at Daytona, after that, I'll see what's on the Food Network.

I can't watch NASCAR as I still have all my teeth, hate Budweiser and pogos and do not live in an RV.

The best part of nascrap is going onto the US based discussion boards and poking fun at them.Oh no! Left turn!

Those cars are worth about the equivalent of a top F1 team's yearly brake rotor budget. Travis was in there mixing it up, though. That's kinda cool. Too bad he's too old to try his hand at real racing.

It'll be fun...warchin another season of turning left...racin is racin. If it was sooo easy all the f-1 retreads would come and win easily every week. The same ridiculous attitude about hating on a sport you supposedly "like" motorcycles but "hate" Harleys and cuisers. I don't hate on any racin.. just like I don't hate any motorcycles...sure some I prefer over others...but thats it.

Correct!

How many times have I seen someone post about how NASCAR is a bunch of babies because they don't race in the rain. F1 in the wet (with run off, super light carbon everything cars, and lotso downforce) is sketchy enough. Do that with 40+ 3000lb NASCAR cars with no run off whatsoever? Anyone not in the first two rows would not be able to see a thing... and in NASCAR that just means a 40 car pile up half a lap into a wet race.

It's pretty obvious why they don't race in the rain. I guess it's easy to make fun of dem rednecks tho.. It makes me wonder, if these folks suggest that racing in NASCAR is so easy, why don't they go do it and make millions?

Why not go race NASCAR? Simple. A typical NASCAR salary would barely cover fuel+slip fees for the yacht.

All I know is "Superbike family" was interrupted to cover a damn nascrap crash!! I hate speed!

Nascar has great racing, and lots of talented drivers, it still sucks.

Caboose, lets go race NASCAR, I'm pretty good on GT5 and how hard could it be? There's 4 wheels after all and no rain races.

Oh, that sounds so tempting! Unfortunately that goes against my personal code of conduct.

By force of habit I start and finish my TV viewing at SPEED channel. Nothing roasts my chicken like hearing a southern drawl dissect the minutia of a car going around in circles.

Took until midnight to fix the fences but they are ready to go.
Generation 6 cars may be the fastest ever.

Lets hope everybody goes home in anything except an ambulance today.

the fact that nobody was killed there was a miracle

looking forward to today's race

fwiw...I'm a big F1 fan....and I've attended both F1 and Nascar in person....and Nascar puts on one hell of a show

anyone who thinks these guys (and girls) can't drive should grab a seat at turns 3-4 in Michigan and watch them going sideways at 200mph lap after lap, nose-to-tail, side-by-side.....and not crash.....it's an impressive spectacle....and if you're a race-fan of any sort....put it on your bucket list

I never said it wasn't hard or that the drivers arent talented. As has been seen by the many successful drivers from other global series who cant win in NASCAR.

I just dont see the need to smash up so much stuff because of the blatant lack of penalties for wrecking someone.

There's a reason they had to limit the number of Green White Checkered you could have because it was getting ridiculous.

Look at the Thanksgiving race from last season. They wrecked the entire field, minus 2 cars, in the last corner of the last lap.

That's not racing, that's just stupid.

nasty crash (engine embedded in fence)....

From spectator perspective (Tire in the stands) :

Just watched those vids again, and reminded me of Kubica's crash in Montreal back in 2007. Happened right in front of us, and man do you appreciate how fast these things happen when witnessed in real life, and thankfully no parts came flying into the stands.

How the hell he survived amazes the hell out of me.
