Thanks!
Has been thinking of NFC but definitely wont go wifi and bluetooth. Both will drain my wimpy little battery in no time.
Feature requests... 1) add power converter so this thing can be wired inline to the moto batt., 2) make wireless; and then some other cool stuff like.. (control lights, horn, and perhaps and aux relayed in). Love to see the schematic for this. Perhaps I could help you "refine" it.![]()
Make sure it's wired to the motorcycle battery, ditch that 9v battery asap.Yep phone need to be plug in to start it, just like the key. Has been thinking of NFC but definitely wont go wifi and bluetooth. Both will drain my wimpy little battery in no time.
A cheapo HC-05 module from dealextreme takes 8ma after pairing (well, that's what it says on the internet. I have not tested mine.) Match it to a microcontroller with decent sleep current and it should not be a significant drain on a motorcycle battery.
EDIT: You need an RPM feedback to tell when the engine is actually started so you don't need to hold down the button.

The new bluetooth stuff is super energy efficient.
If this little watch can run the display AND bluetooth for a week straight on one charge, it's gotta run for 2 years or more on a motorcycle battery
