MV Augusta files for Chapter 11 Protection

Leon Camier can't catch a break.

The sport bike market is far too crowded and far too competitive for minor players. I don't see any reason why anyone would buy an Augusta other than a fascination with the rare and presumably exotic. I would go Jap, specifically Kawasaki if I went high-sport because you get the product support. Now there's a bunch of people left out in the cold with MV's that are by most accounts problematic and temperamental.

The F4 is still fast and nothing looks like it... but it definitely needs a major update. They do sound cool.

If anyone cares, I don't care.

I bet someone scoops up MV Agusta within a month

Probably already in the works,

you have to bare in mind what a mess this company has been for 40yrs, started by an Italian Count with bags of money, his kids take over the business and really only make an sell bikes to fund their passion for racing, win everything for years but suck the place dry, sell if off to Cagiva (they also owned Ducati and others for a while), Cagiva makes a bigger mess, Malaysian car company Pol buys it out from Cagiva, they cant save it from themselves. Harley Davidson buys it because they need the liquid cooling technology for meeting emmissions certs around the world. Bleeds off the tech and sells it back to Castiglioni family for $1, just to get out of it. MV sells of the Husqvarna brand they had bought to BMW to raise cash to go racing again. Bleeding cash, AMG benz wants in because all the cool companies have a bike interest going on. AMG benz takes a look at what they bought into and somebody in Stuttgart says ' and WTF!! ' , and here we go again. This brand has more ups and downs than panties in an Italian brothel.

One word: China. More words: If anybody could make a go of this company it would be the Chinese. The list of reasons is exhaustive but the main reason would be quality assurance.
