If anyone wants to join, I'm thinking about heading out for a ride this coming Wednesday or Thursday and I'll know by Tuesday night when I can head out. Either day looks to be really nice out and I'm hoping to do around 12hrs/1000km - starting about 7am and I'd like to be back before dark. This ride is not for the inexperienced or easily fatigued...

Here's the route. It shows as being 14 hours, so I will cut out a road or two if necessary... It would also be nice to go on some new-to-me / different roads, so I might just go exploring the gravel roads around Old Nipissing Trail or the paved Haliburton backroads.

Or this PA route which has about 1/2 the day on nice twisty roads.

I'm leaving from Mississauga. I'll probably pack a lunch and snacks, so I can spend my money on gas instead. I do like to stop every now and then for pictures and stuff, but I like to pack in as many nice roads as possible!!

The pace will be spirited pace in the corners, while trying to be respectful in the straights and passing through small towns.

If you are interested, then post up and we can try and work out a meeting spot.

Cheers!

Im interested.. What are you riding? Im on a supermoto..If you're blasting the straights on an SS I'll have to miss this one lol

Sorry I should have mentioned - I'm on a VStrom 650 and I try not to blast on the straights and just have some fun in the corners.

I can't do this on the weenkend because I have to work and the roads are usually quieter during the week.

I'm interested in this ride if you are heading north. Wednesday or Thursday are good. I'm on a drz400s if that will work for this ride.

The 400sm will work just fine - the first 150km there and 150km back are all highway, but asides from that, we should be on perfect roads for your bikes. If both of you want to ride some twisty gravel there are some fun roads we could go on too. I'm on street tires that are good for light gravel. If you guys need me to bring my top box to carry anything (lunches, etc) then also let me know, otherwise I will be riding with a tankbag only.

It seems I am free for Wednesday (tomorrow) and I can leave my house as early as 6:30am.

Mr Walczack - we can meet around 7ish, anywhere close to 401 that works for you and ride over to meet Kevin - at the 'Enroute' service center located along the 400 just before King Rd. Let me know if those locations and times work with you both.

It seems like it is going to be a really nice day tomorrow!

Damn shame I missed this one but I work Wed and have Thurs, Fri off, ride safe!

Nipissing Trail is doable with street tires - I did the section between Magnetewan and the 518 on a well worn pair of Michelin Anakee 3's. 1/3 of it is fresh gravel that is compacted in the tire tracks, 1/3 is hard packed gravel and 1/3 is paved chip seal.

Big Chute was good, with a few minor sandy spots, same as the 518 and Ravenscliffe.

Kushog, Watts and Harburn had lots of sand on them, but they were still my favourite roads to ride and we took them as fast as we could. Sport bikes could have a problem on the really sandy roads, but any bike with an upright position should have fun.
