Hey guys, I've moving downtown toronto and my condo doesnt come with a parking spot and I really wanna avoid paying the extra $$ to rent a parking spot in dt as well. Would it be safe and possible to park my bike all day and night on a street beside my condo building?

Hmmmmm?...No

Most bike thefts seem to happen in underground parking, so maybe it's safer right on the street. The crooks won't expect that.

What bike do you have? If it's VERY undesirable you might be able to get away with it, especially if you put a Hyosung cover on it.

Put up a sign in your lobby saying you want to rent a spot with your phone number. Usually someone bites that doesn't use their spot. Say you'll pay $100. You'll probably pay about $120. PM me where you are, if you are in my building I'll split with you.

There are no streets beside your condo building, or even any streets with parking signs to indicate what is legal. I know this, because I know where you live?

Condo's don't allow two vehicles to occupy a single parking space.

Its just a ninja 250, wouldn't even be worth it to steal.
What year? If 2009+ they are on the hot list. Make sure you have insurance on it 24/7, even if you're not planning on riding it right away, etc.

I wouldn't steal it...almost a moped....jk. It would be gone in seconds.

Mine allows it, so it really depends on the board.
Ahhh, never knew any did! Last I heard it was a fire code thing and boards couldn't override it!

Kind of a grey area whether or not condo's allow two vehicle parking. When I lived next to the dome, my contract stated only one vehicle per spot. But there were at least ten of us that had a car and bike together. Nobody ever complained and I don't think it's really that enforceable.
To the OP's question: I would not leave it out in the open.

I always get concerned with the 'will it be safe aspect' but what would bother me the most are just the random strangers or drunks if ur near any bars pubs or clubs - and the dodgy business they may do to it.
try to see if you can rent a spot. typically there is always one available.

i met a guy at a condo i lived in who had 3 bikes in his spot. maybe u can find a fellow rider in ur condo and share the cost.

On top of the safety issue, within the City of Toronto, an unsigned maximum three-hour parking limit exists on public roads unless there is signage posted indicating otherwise (eg, maximum 1 hour parking, maximum 15 minute parking, etc.).

As per transportation services, parking for an excessive length of time (eg. more than one, two, or three hours as shown on the signs), will make the vehicle owner liable to a minimum fine of $15.00 where there are no other restrictions.
