moved up to a ninja 300 from a cbr 125, regretting it --- why is bigger better?

so, a few weeks in. while i love the power boost, i miss the ease of use. easier to park, to turn, to dive around the city. obviously, the lack of power on the 125 sucks, but it's not noticeable in the city, where i do most of my driving. i love the ninja, but i didn't need it. 125 owners, stay strong!

There's a thread about 50cc bikes going now. Wonder how much hate that thread's gonna get, lol.

You'll get used to it. But, yeah in the city you don't "need" more than a 125.... :)

I haven't changed my mind, and I won't go back. The 300 is a very nice upgrade for me. It handles nicely (but not as crisply in the city) and the power upgrade is amazing. It's faster than my old honda interceptor 500 by a long shot. top speed is fast enough. i generally don't go over 150 anyway. but thanks for asking. the smaller bike riders out there should feel no shame, though (of which i am, obviously part of). smaller handles well, just... slower. and i think that answers my original question: i don't think bigger is necessarily better. it's just faster. and you can go further. different spokes for different folks!

SO this thread has been a good joke.

OP - Did you change your mind? How is the 300 now?

You should point out bigger can be safer in an emergency situation, and agree no shame in anything we ride and enjoy, have a great summer.

I reckon a tired out old interceptor 500 would absolutely feel slower and bulkier than a brand new ninja 300. I owned the 500 once. Hated every minute of it. Don't imagine with all the years later and miles on them that I'd like it any better. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. :dontknow:

No, but there is a massive difference in power-to-weight ratio, even after throwing in a 200lbs rider. I'm sure the Ninja 300 is a fine bike, but it's not fast by any standard.

should've got the 750 and saved a ton more on insurnace and have another 25+hp to play with

You hated the Miniceptor? You cold heartless monster...

It never fails to amuse me that the VF500F had more advanced forks than bikes like, say, a new Ninja 300
