Motorcycling IS NOT a cheap hobby!!!

GUESS WHO?

Reading around the forums it seems like some people are so damn cheap with their bikes. There is a member trying to justify whether or not he should change his completely rusted out chain. I was doing a search the other day and I came across a guy asking about re-using his wheel weights. What's next? Chinese brake pads and rotors?

I'm all for saving a dollar as much as the next guy, but really? Re-using wheel ****ing weights? Holy moly.

If I was buying your bike and saw your chain in such a condition, I will run for the hills.

Don't be cheap.

With things getting more and more expensive these days I can see myself and probably a lot of other people penny pinching, but you are right there is no dollar value for safety.

A week after I got my brand new bike with brand new tires, I got a nail in the back one, shop was like we can plug it, I said no sir, put on a new tire please.

If a tire is plugged properly, it will last just as long as it should. But I hear ya, there should be no compromise on safety and quality.

Btw, I have nothing against penny pinchers, I do to a certain extent with some of the aftermarket parts I buy. But, I will not let my chain get to this condition and ask whether or not I should change it............

No kidding. You'll get a lot more out of motorcycling by becoming a site supporter. It's cheap.

I didn't know metal wheel weights were perishable pats of butter..

Like when I had some landscaping done, I specified new, not used, rocks.

Jeesh! I should get into this action. I could have saved a few bucks and re-used the brake fluid I bled out of my front discs. This thread is giving me all sorts of great money saving tips...

Er... on second thought... I will not be pinching pennies on maintenance with my bike... :)

when I changed my tires I sucked up the used air in my garage and pumped it back into the tires. Free air, beat that.

There is a whole lost of things that you should not re-use and actually should replace regulary

Rims
Bike Frames
Break and clutch levers
Oil Pans
Every wire in your motorcycle

You should replace all these every year other wise you are bad at bikes...

Well yes, every Harley-Davidson owner knows you must do what it takes in order to ride your ride.

Wow! That chain is so bad I'd just replace the bike! Besides, the air filter is probably dirty too. Save money on maintenance means more money for this:
