After he crossed the intersection it looked like he was leaning right to avoid the cars but still going straight.. how is that possible?
 
looool wtfff was that. not sure if her didnt notice the light change and was swerving to avoid the car infront of him, or if he was purposely trying to run through the light :/

very sketchy though.
 
That rider should hand the license over .... should be on un-motorized two wheels at best.

Great example of the problem with countersteering.

To go right he has to steer left, but there's no room on the left - so he goes straight.
I think this is how riders steer into guardrails, for example. When you get too close to the guardrail (or edge of road etc.) there's no room to countersteer away from it.

​At speed, leaning right won't help much.

True, but tons of luck fell his way in that split second too.

The van was actually trying a U-turn, otherwise it would have been much further forward in the intersection where the biker would have had less room to manoeuver. Also the driver probably didn't see him if he was looking hard L, otherwise he might have slammed the brakes and the biker would have run into the back of the van. Then the two cars stopped in the L turn lane were for some reason pretty far on the R side within their lanes, which allowed just enough room for the rider to swing into their lane.

Notice also the red car going the opposite way also burning the red light way late.

Typical Liberal rider. Won't see Conservative riders doing that. ;)

If you pause around 11 seconds, you'll see that the car in front of the van is just making it's turn, the van is starting to pull forward, the bike has made a lane change and accelerated and the light has changed to amber. The car on the left is still braking. There is a blockage going perpendicular to the bikes travel, so the left turning van is stuck after having followed the car into the intersection; he had hesitated to see if the car in front of the bike would run the amber.
At 12 seconds it's clear that the car in front of the bike is stopping, and the bike has lots of room to do so. At 13 seconds the car is pretty much stopped, the left turning car isn't quite through the intersection, a pedestrian is running across the street on the amber, and the left turning van, has turned the wheel and entered, but has no where to go until the car and pedestrian clear the intersection. The bike is no longer slowing, and is starting to move left. At 14 seconds, the van is still waiting and the motorcycle is weaving between the cars. At 15 seconds, the van has entered, but the pedestrian is still there. At 16, the van turns sharply left to try to miss the pedestrian, and give the bike a chance to miss the van.

It's possible that the van is executing the world's worst U-turn, but it looks more like a reaction to the bike and the pedestrian both being in the intersection to me.
 
I'm going with world's worst U-turn. Crazy right-wing driver (leftys don't drive vans).

Luck was huge part of that deal. You wouldn't want to try that too often.

To note at 15 seconds, the light is a solid red as the bike enters the intersection.
