Motorcycle Survey!

It's a shame because it looks like a really cool bike. But creating a sub-brand for it makes it gimmicky and is a turn-off.

I'm about 50% hipster by GTAM standards, and I know for a fact the average hipster would rather fix up an old, neglected Honda CB than buy into the prefab SCRAMBLER lifestyle.

Can you guys say hipster one more time

Please answer!!! Every answer helps

I like the scrambler, although sitting on one at the show, it felt cheap, unlike other Ducatis (i have a Diavel), but the price is less than half of my bike, so there's gotta be some cost cutting somewhere I guess. A ducati-themed cafe is a horrible idea for a city like Toronto, where we are flooded with Starbuckses and Tim Hortonses and Second Cups and independent coffee shops and and and and ...

Mr. guy who works for Ducati, you know what we don't have in Toronto? A ****ing dealership. Whitby, Oakville and Vaughan are less-than-ideal options for the person who lives downtown and rides a Ducati. Instead of adding an ad box/coffee shop to an area with 7,000 coffee shops that make decent joe and are known for it, how bout a downtown dealership in a high-traffic area, and using that as your marketing play. FFS.

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! Having a Diavel, would you ever consider a Scrambler as a second bike? More of a city bike maybe? Just curious

For what it's worth, I agree with all of this.

To be quite honest, Ducati ownership has put me off Ducati ownership. I guess I'd take it for a spin, see if it grabbed me the way the Diavel did, but chances are, I wouldn't buy another duc.

Interesting points, anyone else have any thoughts on the Scrambler?

Harley-Davidson could perhaps pull off something like this bike, but Ducati? No. The concept doesn't suit the brand. I'm not saying that no one will buy it. But ...

Volkswagen can pull off building a new Beetle, because they built millions of the old one. No one else has any business doing it.
Fiat can pull off building a new 500, because they built millions of the old one (although Europeans would remember this more). No one else could ...
Ford can pull off building a Mustang, because it continues a heritage from millions of those that came before.
Porsche can pull off building a 911, because it continues their heritage.

If you're going to build something that looks like a modern interpretation of something old, you had better have the heritage of having built those old ones first.

Yes, I know Ducati has been building bikes for decades - but not bikes like this. Both VW and Ford have also been building cars for decades. But VW could never build a Mustang, nor could Ford ever build a Beetle. It's just wrong, and their customers know it, and THEY know it.
