Motorcycle helmet visor question

I'm fairly new to riding, had my helmet for about 8 months now. I have light swirl marks on it, from wiping with paper towels and stuff. Anyway, my question is, do most riders have light scratches / swirl marka on their clear visors? Or is the visor supposed to be clear as glass without any imperfections? Like crystal clear? If it's supposed to be like tht I'll apply a #2 Novus product to it.

Im just not sure what is normal. Thx for clarifying!

Just like your car windshield it should be as clean and clear from scratches and imperfections as "possible" It will be less clear during rain or riding into the sun with scratches.

I never use paper towel. I use those soft Simoniz microfiber cloths from Canadian tire. I keep one in my saddlebag with a small can of Plexus. works wonders.

Hmm I wonder if I should try novus #2 on it. I don't know if it's bad enough to attempt a restoration. I mean if it means it comes out crystal clear without a single swirl mark then ok but I certainly don't want to make it worse either

Use one of the many headlight polishing kits that you can buy at Crappy Tire or Walmart. Use a corded power drill to apply the paste/polish. Follow the instructions on the packaging, and you should be fine.

If the scratches are really deep, you may have to wet-sand first. You can also try just applying wax, as this will fill in minor swirls and scratches.

If you're lazy, just buy a new visor, and be more careful cleaning it.

FWIW toilet paper is less abrasive than paper towel.

i'd use elbow grease. visors are fairly soft an you could damage it more with a drill

if the visor is not expensive, just get a new one...

Yep, why bother with all this effort? Get a new one. Hope it's not Arai or Shoei, though, those replacement visors are $$!
