Montreal

I'm an ex montrealer and yes, riding seemed safer.
1.) smaller city, It's an island.
2.) a very European mentality, motorbikes are seen as common transportation, notice the amount of scooters.
3.) drivers leave left lanes open on major highways for passing, Toronto take note.
4.) a far better and more efficient public transportation service, fewer cars on the road.
5.) the only road rage I remember was finding a parking spot between 5pm and 7pm, 2 for 1 drinks at almost all bars.
6.) motorbikes have a shorter season, the law doesn't allow 2 wheels past November or before spring.
7.) The mayor of Montreal is a big believer in 2 wheels and is promoted more.

I really wanna ride to Montreal and Quebec City sometime...

Hmm interesting, I know Hamilton has a bunch of one way streets and it didn't seem a whole lot safer to me.

LOL @ hamilton comparison - Hamilton drivers AND pedestrians alike are crazy. I have driven downtown hamilton endless times and witnessed a pedestrian just blindly running out in the middle of oncoming traffic at green light - happens ALL the time - they almost completely ignore the pedestrian signals. Not to mention cars running through reds - not even a "just turned red from amber" type of running, I'm talking about the light has been red for two minutes already type of running the red. Traffic instructions are just a suggestion here. I've also seen a lot of cars going the wrong way on the one way streets.

Ive always thought of moving to montreal while im young, and this thread is only pushing me closer to that. I love the european flair in montreal, but I hate the habs.

And love the leafs? because of their amazing playoffs almost 10 years ago now?

montreal is cheaper on rent/housing, insurance, awesome food, people work to live (dont live to work like here)...

More hedonistic in their lives i find.
Im making the move with the gf within 2-3 years !

I felt like i was "speeding" at 120!
Then i get past cobourg and im following traffic at 130?! wtf

Moving to montreal is becoming more and more of a good idea for me! (except for the license plates lol)

Exactly.....the speed just gradually gets quicker on the "yours to discover" side.

As for moving to Montreal, the wife and I would gladly move there if we could get transfers at work. The more Euro-based lifestyle with the cafes/restaurants, culture and nightlife they seem to more content just slowing down and enjoying it. Besides, we're there 2-3 times a year.

I agree with you the plates. That's just nuts!
