Mon Morn 11/21.. No Frost. another week of commuting!

Ahhh a valid excuse.... suffer to save some money. $16/day is sizable.

I take it you don't do any winter sports??
Ahhh a valid excuse.... suffer inside and not have any fun in the winter.


And my reason is with xmas coming the extra money of my gf working a day shift and taking the truck helps out with presents and the only way she can do that is if I take the bike.
I have grown up snowmobiling so I am not going to cry because it is -2.
I am not doing it for enjoyment (Although I am definitely not suffering) , I'm doing it because that is what it takes to pay the bills and give my daughter a good xmas.

I do plenty of winter stuff, none of which includes desperately clinging to my motorcycle :lol:

But like I said, I dont see the JOY in it. But you guys are doing it for financial reasons so that's cool...whatever.

Yeah it's a slow-riding thing. I guess if you're content with riding around like a frozen granny :lol:
 
The appeal for riding in cold weather lessens every year you've been riding.

I don't think it's a question of being a pussy or being hard core, for me the morning temperatures we are having right now is more than enough reason for me to park the bike and take the car.

+2 to -3 and Black ice becomes a reality. As mentioned earlier modern day SS tires are nothing but hockey pucks in lower temps.

I would rather ride in -10 than -1.

At last check no-one receives a medal for riding in December.

If I had and SS maybe, but if you survey all the guys still riding, I bet none of us ride an SS.

Spot on.

I bet the only guys still riding are either just in it to save money, or are relative newbs who are still excited enough about riding to bear the cold.
 
It's a risk vs reward thing.
Some people feel that there is no risk, or that the reward justifies it.
Me, I don't need that kind of risk.
 
+1 to the dew point being around 3 degrees (so that means frost/black ice starts existing at that temperature). Just because the weather channel says high of 2 degrees, it doesn't mean that all roads/parts of town will be 2 degrees. That's cutting it way too close, tbh. Hopefully some of you guys don't regret it.

I don't ride when it's under 5 degrees, and it has nothing to do with ME being cold.

A new set of sport demons was put on in Oct which are extremely effective for all conditions I've encountered from Deals Gap twisties to the snow flurry on the 401 heading to Windsor a week ago. Great tire.
 
Don't mind the cold weather.. more worried about black ice and lack of traction from cold roads/brined or salted roads

...and for some of us its a viable means of transport to commute to work.The posers stopped riding (to timmies and "meets") weeks back.

Agreed - not sure why this thread turned into machismo vs. stupidity. Must be that "trolling" thing people keep referring to.

I sold my car when I bought my bike, since I live downtown. Had to commute to the Scarborough office today, it was either spend 90 minutes on the TTC or do the 40 minute ride to work. Felt like I knew the roads well enough to manage the ride. I rode as safely as possible - not like a grandma, but fast enough to fit in with the flow of traffic. Yes, I love riding, but it was also just a practical decision. I rely on my bike as my primary mode of transportation now.
