Wow i started a war lol. Personally i'm not still riding because i think it's fun, but for the simple fact i don't have a car, so i really want to stretch out the use of the bike as long as possible before having to resort to the TTC, especially since the bus i take has two high schools along the route to my job. A bus full of screeching teenagers at 8 in the morning isn't my idea of fun.. so whatever i can do to delay that experience i'm doing lol. Also, the TTC is six bucks a day to and from work (metro pass isn't worth it to me since i wont use it every day), so that's $30 a week, whereas $15 in my bike is good for at least two weeks of just back and forth to work for me. So $15 vs $60 is a huge saving.
I should add that when i take the bike i leave around 8am and i'm home before 4pm every day, so i'm only out in daylight hours and my commute is only 10 minutes and no highways. This morning was sunny with no frost at all where i live, i guess it's different in different parts of the city though. But i'm not stupid, i would never ride if i thought there would be frost or ice out there. My route is all side streets which were all very dry today. Still.. probably gonna park the bike after this week. I was hoping to make it until the Dec bike show but that's another 3 weeks, i think by then there will be ice on the roads for sure.
Ice is my only concern though, not the cold, hell.. i'm a delivery guy and work outside all day and sometimes wear shorts in January lol, so the cold doesn't bug me. Road conditions is all that factors into my decision when to park the bike.
