Microsoft Teams

I know there's a bunch of computer literate/IT guys here so maybe someone can help me...I need to set up a Teams meeting but don't want to use my work account as this is personal...I have both a Gmail and a Hotmail email address (don't really use the old Hotmail email too much though) and I can't seem to be able to add a new account to my current Teams set up...I can't even seem to be able to log out of my Teams as anytime I start it, it automatically logs me in with my work credentials...can anyone give me a play by play on how I can set up a personal Teams account so I can set up this personal meeting?

Edit: I tried using my Hotmail account to sign in as my Gmail account came back as a back up account for my Microsoft account but it took me to my work Teams environment automatically...sigh...

Have you tried this?

As I vaguely recall Teams can be licensed so certain features can be deactivated by say your work IT department, if you are using their Teams.

Is this setup on a personal computer?

@Evoex yes, I tried the adding an account feature...it's probably deactivated by my IT department as you said...I did edit my post to add the following:

I'm using my personal computer but like I said, it just keeps taking me to my work environment (calendar, Teams that I'm a part of, chats from when we used it for online teaching during Covid shutdowns etc.)...

Is Skype free to use and is it safe/secure?

Edit: Just Googled Skype and apparently it's discontinued

If your Microsoft account is linked then you probably won't be able to get around that..

Maybe create a new email account and then logout of your profile in Windows and use that 2nd email account instead..

Do you have a tablet? Or even a phone. Something that MS doesn't have their claws in. Download teams app there and apparently you can host meetings. I have never tried it.

I’m quite sure I’ve used a web version of Teams before when the app wouldn’t load.

I would just set up a new email for Teams so it’s a clean start if you need the app.

That would piss me the hell off if work locked down my personal computer like that.
I'm surprised teachers dont get a separate work laptop for work purposes only!
I have a work laptop and while the meeting I'm having is with my staff, it has to do with union business and I don't want to use my work Teams if I don't have to...

Maybe use Zoom meetings instead of Teams ? We use it all winter for indoor cycling

Zoom is what I would go to if nothing else. Everyone seems to have a gmail account these days so you could host a google video chat.

I think I'm going to use Google Meet...when we were teaching online, a few boards got rid of Zoom because apparently it wasn't very secure, so I'm leery of using that platform. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

So now I’m curious , what pray tell are you setting up in your meeting that security is an issue ? Group pipe bomb class lol .

I hate Teams with a passion. I could not make it work at all on my Android devices for two years, so I had to be at home to take any Teams conference calls, of which I had many. Then Microsoft folded up the remainder of its failed tablet/phone business - suddenly Teams works on my SAME Android devices with a software update.

It's quite literally the 2nd buggiest piece of software I've used in the past decade. Facebook being #1 with LinkedIn being a dishonorable mention. Now Teams loads and takes up 3/4 of my 4K screen on every boot. Sure I can make it go away, but it's just so annoying. Even more annoying, about 1/3 of the time I have to use it, it takes minutes to update itself before I can join a conference.
