Thing is, these fighters should know by now that the judges put a lot of value in takedowns and control. You could take a guy down, he could beat you up from the bottom and elbow your face bloody but you'd still win since you maintained control. I can only think of a couple of occasions where the judges really gave proper credit to scoring from the bottom.
I would of gave the nod to machida but it was one of those fights where "you never know" and "anything can happen". I don't think machida "clearly" won, nothing like that. He basically landed a few more clean strikes (a few body kicks, couple head shots) but that was it. Neither guy ended up in serious trouble. Maybe next time he will step on the gas a little more and go get it. Instead of relying so much on countering.
On another note, wasn't so thrilled about Aldo attacking TKZ's dislocated shoulder. Thought that was a little cold since the ref would of had to stop the fight regardless.
