M Test with brake light blinker

I was just wondering if anyone did their M test with a brake light blinker and had any issues.

Blinker would engage and cause your brake light to flash for 3 seconds before staying solid when applying front or rear brake.

Has anyone been hassled for this kind of modification?

I'm curious about this as well. Even though I won't be taking my M exit until next year, always good to know. Also if anyone knows, are they picky about having integrated turn signals in the rear as well?

not sure if it is relevant, but some merc's lights flash under heavy braking, but they are solid under regular use and that probably why they are allowed in the case of the merc's.

I would swap out and put the oem light back in if you have it just to be on the safe side.

My bike has been used twice with an integrated tail light with zero issues. The flashing brake thing I never really understood. I always just think the rider/ driver is resting their foot on the brake.

This is the response you get when I'm bored and have an iPhone.

It is more to get the attention of the person behind you that you're braking cause in the day the brake lights just don't seem all too visible. By the time I come to a stop, it would stop flashing.
Something flashing would probably increase the chances of whoever is behind you to notice that braking especially if they're preoccupied doing something else.

From what I have heard it should be a solid brake light (no flashing) most modules allow you to put it back to eom for this reason.

The testers take a look at your bike and make sure your horn works etc. I had a problem with one of my two tail running lights and they wouldn't have done the test if it wasn't working.

I think you may be taking a risk here

All these methods people use to bring attention to themselves for safety's sake...

If you really wanted to be visible/safe, wear a conspicuity vest.

The brake light works when you need it to, it just leads with a flash. I don't see any issues with that.

If you have tiny indicators, a tester could simply require you to use hand signals during your test. No biggie.

Unless you want to get into this type of discussion with your tester I would suggest disabling the blinker for your test. Turn it back on later.

I did not have any issues, and my buddy who also has the blinker did not have any issues.

They are there to test your ability on the bike, but when they give your bike a look over just mention to them that your brake light blinks 3 times for saftey. You shouldn't have a problem.

We were tested at Vic Terrace if that helps you.

Are you doing at a Driver test centre or at a riders training course? If at a training course go there and get it in writing if possible. Driver test centre you will get different stories, what one examiner says maybe different from another.
Not worth the hassle if you cannot take your test because of a flashing light.
You have two choices, change it, as most have suggested. Wait for Rob to chime in.

All the fire trucks that we see here already have this feature...brake lights flash before coming on steady...so...If the government is doing it, then we should be fine as well

But personally, I find it to be VERY distracting...same goes for the ford mustangs having sequencial LED turn signals...kinda takes your attention away...

I did my M test last Summer..and yes..they didn't like the integrated turn signals what so ever.. I had to use hand signals.. it was all good though..because I use my hand signals a lot when riding with group rides..so it became second nature to me..

brake light modulators should be fine. If you're integrated turn signals cannot be seen from 20-30 feet back in broad daylight you will be asked to supplement with hand signals.

I did not have any issues. I have a brake light modulator.
