Looking for input/advice

I'm currently stuck trying to choose between to similar bikes. 2009 gsxr 600 and a 2008 R6. Both have nearly no km's on them and priced pretty closely. I've been out of the bike scene for quite some time so I was just looking for the good and the bad if you have had experience on either. I'm coming from an older zx7r and haven't ridden in a few years so I'm sure the power will be more than enough. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance.

p.s. sorry if this is in the wrong area.

Especially if you've been out of riding for a while, any perceived performance difference between the two shouldn't factor in. All modern 600 SS are so close to each other that the average rider can't tell the difference.

Sit on the both to see if there's an ergonomic difference between them. If one of them feels better, choose that one. It doesn't matter what any motorcycle performs like if it causes you pain after an hour and you don't want to ride it.

Stare at them for 5 mins apiece. If one of them speaks to you, go with your heart and choose that one. It would suck to pass by the bike you never bought and think you made a mistake.

If you do both and each points you to a different bike, flip a coin.

R6.

That is all.

gsxr600

the r6's seating position will make you wanna die

After riding the CBR600RR, Kawi636 and an R6, I consider the R6 the worst handling of the 3 that I have ridden.
Can't speak for Suzuki as I've never ridden any.

GSXR.

R6 is due for an update and its got a peaky powerband though its still sexy as hell. The 08-10 GSXRs were the best looking in my opinion. Prior to that they had the ugly cyclops headlight syndrome, after 2010 they got pug nosed and the cyclops syndrome again...

I beg to differ.
04-05 gsxr 6 would be the best looking they ever made

I have ridden piles of bikes. For a new racebike, the R6 would be near the top of the list. For a streetbike it wouldn't even be on my radar.

The 06 and newer R6 is terrible for a lack of midrange and bottom end. Awesome racebike if you can keep it on the boil at 11,000+ rpm....but as a streetbike I think it's way too focused, both engine wise and the seating position. You sit atop the bike rather than in it.

GSXR makes a nicer streetbike. It's not as accurate steering, but still a hella sharp tool for negotiating twisty asphalt, and much more comfortable than the R6, and a whole lot more accessible midrange.

My bias in the looks dept. is the gsxr mostly because of color. Here are two pictures if color was ever a factor (aesthetics does play a part of your purchase) I do also know you can't make this purchase based on looks which is why I made this thread. Thanks for the input so far folks.

You need to first tell people what are you looking to use the bike for

- Commute? = GSXR since it is the most comfortable riding position
- Track? = R6 since it has more high end range
- Weekend Road trips? = GSXR (same reason as above)
- Posing at timmies = Get a honda
- Long trips = Neither
- Day rips to 507 etc = GSXR 750
- Never get laid = Ninja 250 ... I kid

I would have to agree...i had a 04 and a 05 :)
hmm let me guess...you ride one, that's why?

people tend to ride what they like.

ive ridden pretty much everything from the late 90s to current years and the newer r6 is on of the most uncomfortable bikes i have EVER been on. i actually like the looks of it, but cant ride it for more than half an hour without contemplating suicide.

unless the OP is buying a bike to ride down to tim hortons and stare at it instead of ride it, id recommend taking both for a spin and deciding from there.
