Cool. Looking forward to the miniseries.

Definitely would be a different trip then the previous. All paved roads, no river crossings, etc. While it would still be a fantastic trip, it does not have the same appeal as bikes going off the beaten track. Do these vehicles just plug into regular outlets? Have trouble believing there is a lot of EV charging stations outside of large cities.

I hope for HD's sake that the bikes last.
lol they are starting out with 2 spares of everything and 2 escort trucks, should not be a problem and if it was you will never hear about it.

They can, for a much slower rate of charge, but it works - any regular outlet is technically a charging station for any EV...it just takes a lot longer - exactly HOW long depends on the battery size. Depending on your needs and schedule, that can be just fine however.

For the livewire, charging on a normal 120V outlet would be about a 9-ish hour process.

Probably a couple generators hanging out in the support trucks.

Um, Argentina uses 220 volt @ 50Hz.

That's going to be a tough ride -- 80 minutes riding, 60 minutes stopped for charging (presuming the charge trucks are LIII). I'm not exactly sure what the point of this is... theater?

Maybe by two of everything, they mean there will actually be spare bikes charging in the support trucks and the riders just switch bikes every hour or two.

I assume they're trying to show what electric vehicles are capable of, same as the people that drive their Tesla's across the US.

Unfortunately, that's not the motorcycle travel show that most of us want to watch.

Even better yet...every receptacle is effectively what we would consider "Level 2" charging here, so the regular old plug in charger that works anywhere is now capable of charging it in about 4-4.5 hours instead.

Excellent. (y)

They have four bikes ...2 charging while 2 on the road.

I'm interested as we will have 3 weeks in Chile in early 2020. Will be curious to see the roads etc. There appears to be only one main highway...might even see them.

BTW they are leaving from Ushai and the road from there to Santiago is not for the faint of heart in some areas and depending on the time of year.

Just realized there's no talk about Claudio, sure hope he's still part of it.

Just replacement batteries. No need to buy a whole other replacement motorcycle.

Oh wait, they're Harleys...
I haven't looked at the construction of the Livewires, but battery swaps on most EV's take longer than charging them. That's why I figured entirely separate bikes would be required if you wanted to stay on the move.
