So I've decided to head here:

http://www.trolleymuseum.org/

I figure I've been to museums for bikes, cars, planes, trains, tanks - but here's another form of powered/wheeled transport I haven't been to.
Plan on making it there in 2 days crossing NY, VE, NH - actually staying in NH for 3 nights to visit this museum, the coast, the Upper Appalachians or whatever else looks good.

Then another 2 days heading north and skimming the PQ border and back into Whitby to visit family.

Anyone been to the trolley museum per chance? I googled "Best Museums in America" and this was on a list.

Ok, Not a lot of trolley car fans out there, I get it!

I rode from Geneva, NY to Tilton, NH today - some fairly nice roads through the hills, once I got past Albany. Took NY state route 7/VT route 9 which was very nice past Bennington, VT. Road followed a rocky river across Hogback Mtn. Not a bad route, but a little too much traffic.

Enjoying a cold one now, looking out at the lake my motel is on here:

Tomorrow will check out the trolley cars nobody likes, and the Maine coastline.

Try Vermont 17 up and over on the way back.

Have fun! I was in Maine yesterday on my way back from Mosport.

Watch out for the wild turkeys!

Today I toured around the coast of Maine, stopping for the required Lobster and New England clam chowder. Chowder is filling! The restaurant I went to was in a fishing inlet, and there were some lobster boats unloading the catch of the day. Poor little guys, too bad you're so tasty :)

Problem was finding public access to the shoreline, there were so many houses, I don't think there is another place around with so many "Pprivate" , "No Trespassing" etc. signs. I got a couple of shots, but right behind me are people's houses.

Tomorrow I am going up into the White Mountains

What a beautiful day! Not warmer than 24 and sun, sun, sun! Rode into the White Mountain National Forest and it was (almost*) totally awesome. Route was the Sawyer Hwy (NH 118), the Kancamagus Hwy (NH 112) ad Bear Notch Rd. Here's the * and only bad part - Sawyer should get his name off of this road - it is in atrocious condition. It's a ball buster. A filling loosener. Awful - avoid it, unless you ride a dirt bike.

Otherwise, it was a great run, through NH's ski areas around Lincoln, Attitash and Conway. You can tell there's a lot of money coming into the area, as everything is clean and well kept. Even the little motels are pristine. It took me a loooong time to even see a chain motel, everything was independent.

Here's a couple of shots in the mountains.

Right on! We were there on vacation last in the cage. Nice little town with a couple of great restaurants and things to do. If you can take a ride on Ocean Ave from where it begins at Western Ave after you cross the bridge from Kennebunk into Kennebunkport. Ifyou take Ocean Ave you come to Walker's Point. This is the Summer home of George W. Bush Sr. Trust me you can't miss it. We had just missed him getting into a helicopter when we drove. It's great little ride (albeit slow. US speeds limits in town are freakin' way to slow).
