Was it just me or was the bikes at this years bike show over priced??? I mean the cbr600rr hasn't changed since 07 and Honda still wants top dollar for the oldest style 600!

Then we look at the all new gsxr600 which was priced between $12800.00, and $13500.00
Now being in June, that same bike (gsxr600) the dealers are selling for a reduced price of $9995.00.
What gives ?!!!

So whoever purchased the 2011 gsxr600/750 before June got royaly screwed cause naw the gsxr's are , gsxr600 is $12200.00 out the
door...just add another $1000.00 for the Gsxr750

Oh and what about this charged called P. D. I. ? Y can't u just purchase the new bike with the crate un opened! I mean u don't go in and buy a toy from toysrus and they open it and inspect it for you, do they!
I understand freight as they need to get the bike over hear ! But y do you go to different dealers , and they have these two charges r different???

These r just questions and or observations that I wish to share.
This is not an opinion, just an observation!!!

Thank you for your time!

Anyone elts have anything to ad??? Let's hear from the people that purchased their new bikes at this years bike show!

You can't purchase a bike unassembled because the factory won't warranty it and are worried about liability from people who think they can save money by assembling it themselves. I know your argument but honestly, if you were the manufacturer, you wouldn't do it either. Not saying every dealer is perfect, but they're miles ahead of most jokers out there. Most people can't even assemble a BBQ...

As for pricing..you charge what the market will bear. If you have a bunch of bikes leftover, you discount them. Honda is selling '09 600rr's right now for $9499 brand new. If it's summer and people want the latest bikes, you can charge more because there is demand.

^^^^ to touch on the first part of your peragraph . U purchase the bike to put it strait on the track ! so y do you need to pay P.D.I?
you think the manufacturer will still warrent a track bike ? Just saying!

pretty sure you don't have to then...I saw a DRZ125 (offroad only) for sale unassembled in the crate.

You can negotiate to not pay PDI..you've probably just been unsuccessful at doing so. Racing violates their warranty automatically. Race teams are able to negotiate with manufacturers to get bikes still in crates. You'd know that if you were a racer. 99% of bikes sold go to general consumers and the mfg wants them assembled correctly so people don't kill themselves.

last time i checked a giant teddy bear wont throw you out of bed at 140km/hr if it was sewn together improperly.

Same old story every year. In January, they have the whole year to sell the bike so they demand top dollar for the bike. If you HAVE to have it bad enough to buy in January then you pay January prices. By mid July, I would say at least half of the new bike purchases have been made for the year. If you're a dealer still looking at a handful of new bikes sitting on your floor, you start to get nervous. Especially if you have a few of the same model. So, you start lowering the price. They don't want to get stuck with the bike over the winter. Ever go to buy a bike in Early October? Deals to be had for sure if you can find the model/colour you want!

You are free to negotiate the price of your purchase any time of the year. The price in Jan just starts at a higher point. Does not mean you won't get it for less. Since the OP is so fired up about this, it really sounds like he got burned in Jan and is now a bit upset.

Question about that...do they hold the bike for you until next season or do you have to take it home?

The dealers own the bikes. They will sell to whomever has money and ASAP. If you want to pay for it in October and have them hold it, you will have to pay warehousing costs. That may not be much but you'll have to pay. Alternatively, you can get your price in October and just get someone to trailer it home or somewhere else for you. You won't be able to make a deal and then not pay until spring.

Canadians enjoy getting gouged. Nothing new really...

I don't think we enjoy getting gouged. Sort of a generalist statement there. Perhaps some of us aren't as informed about the industry while others are poised to take advantage of this.

Cheers!

Ty for the info. I just don't know what's better: their warehouse, or my garage.

I've taken almost brand new bikes to the track and had warranty work done......how would they know if you keep the stock fairings on etc?

The reason for this thread , is there's a seller on Kijiji now who payed $14,000.00 out the dor for a 2011 gsxr600 and now he whants $10,000 for a used bike!
Ok , it was allot better 2 years ago when u only payed one tax!
But now , u need to pay the hole 13%

When did they add GST on private motor vehicle sales? The crap that mcguinty pulled with HST cannot change the GST rules. GST is federal. PST is provincial. All they did back then was say that anything that only had GST being charged would now have PST as well. Used vehicles sold privately do not have GST.
