It's a good price, I paid $3,000 for a 2003 Kawasaki figure that one out, but I don't feel I got cheated as it had only 24,000 Km's and looked mint.

No, not when you are 17 and you didn't even have your G2 if he actually has one for some time to back up his riding skills.

Yes it is possible if you get liability only. I started when I was 18 on a fzr400.
My quote was 1300 for a ninja250.
Collision doesn't make a huge difference in the rates in my experience. Usually only like $20-50 per month difference.

I bought a 2007 Ninja 650R for $4250 last July. The bike was damaged in some way. I didn't realize it when I went to go look at it. I was so focused on just buying a new bike at a great price. I suggest you take someone with you. Even if its just to talk about what you notice. Then they can talk you out of it if you spot something that you are uneasy about.

i only pay $80/month full coverage on a 09 - 600rr.. but ive also got 12 years on him.

on second thought... when i was 21 i was getting quoted on 600cc ss bikes and it was a grand a month, and the katana was $400 ish i think...
250 is cheap for your age...but i guess its possible.

Yeah, thats part of the reason. People on here usually get a ****** 250 or 125, and go with jevco and pay like 3 grand. Also they get full coverage or fire and theft which would be more expensive than basic liability.
Not many people know about the smaller companies.

Yeah I actually heard of the personal/desjardin from this forum...only reason why I went to look for a bike because they quoted me so low was never planning to ride this season
My brother told me to hold off on insurance since I don't have the bike yet, he used to work for the military and said that 'the personal' would give me a better quote than des jardin, I will give 'tthe personal' a call tomorrow before I place insurance on the bike and see what they give me, maybe it'll be a tad cheaper
The bike I have isn't a SS and its with a company that DOESN"T insure any SS bikes
I just called Desjardins and they told me they don't insure under 25, if you are a new customer and rarely if you are existing. Then I called again, they quoted me $200 a month for a 250 LIABILITY ONLY! ~$300 for full coverage. I have no tickets, no accidents and I had my license M2 for a year. I had G for 5 years.

Don't quote me on this, but this is what they told me
1) they insure anyone licensed over 3 years or anyone who has taken a m2 safety course
2) i am a new customer (not even a customer yet i didn't get the bike yet)
3) i asked for liability only
4) forgot the reps name i just call them and dial 2

ya the ss i got quoted on was insane when i was younger, but the katana is not a SS and i remember the gs500f being a good rate too but cant remember off hand.
whatever, you got a somewhat affordable rate for your age, right on, ride safe.
my buddy just bought (he told me this morning at work) a 08 ninja 650 with about 5000km, seller delivered it to his house from north of barrie down to mississauga... he paid just over 3 grand.. i think he said 3100 or 3200...i had just opened my first coffee of the day so the exact numbers are hazy.
he is doing the safety on his own, and there is apparently no damage.
i havent seen the bike yet, ill check it out in the next week or so. i told him last week the good deals go fast and to keep on kijiji and click refresh every hour, he did it and got what he wanted for what i think was a great price.
