Is kijiji no longer a thing?

Kijiji is fine, I still use it for things, but I think you are probably looking for something more specialized

Inexplicably, Facebook Marketplace has almost entirely killed Kijiji. When I lived in BC, everyone used Craigslist. Moving back to Ontario, I was bummed to find everyone used Kijiji, which was far less useful except for searching across a broader area. Now, with FB Marketplace having almost totally taken over the free/local classifieds space, I pine for the days of Kijiji. Marketplace is so busted, the search function is hilariously bad, and the time waster/scammer ratio is far worse.

I have yet to use Facebook to sell anything. All of my stuff has gone on Kijiji, but recently they are limiting you to a single free ad for each category. This is going to put the final nail in their coffin and force me to move to FB. You would think that in the face (no pun intended) of competition they would make their platform more useful by adding features to improve usabliltiy, but instead just double down on making it harder to find and post free ads.

About the only thing I use Facebook for is marketplace, Kijiji works but more idiots . Even Facebook has its share of time wasters and knuckleheads now .
OP , if you just want them gone , go to a specialist card shop and they will make you an offer . You may not like it but at least they are gone . If you want to monkey about and get better value , then you don’t just want them gone . There is always a PITA factor to consider.

I deleted my Fa(r)cebook account years ago when the Cambridge Analytica stuff came out, but had to swallow my principles and create a Marketplace only account with no friends and a modified name, both for access to Marketplace and access to model-specific groups, which have largely replaced forums (was critical for my RC51 rebuild).

I sold off a bunch of musical instruments and gear a year or two ago, and posted everything on both Marketplace and Kijiji. At the time, I'd say the ratio of responses on each platform was about 10:1 in favour of Bookface, though there were FAR more "Hi, is this still available?" automatic messages, many of which I have to assume was people clicking that button by accident, because many never replied to my equally canned "Yes, are you interested?" response. Of the stuff I sold, only one thing sold via Kijiji.

More recently, I posted some used winter tires and rims for sale on both, and got absolutely nothing from Kijiji and tons of response on Marketplace. I don't think I even got an ad view on Kijiji, which told me the platform is pretty much dead. Meanwhile, I sold the tires on Marketplace within a day.

I don't like any of it, but it's the way things have gone, sadly. I still post ads on Kijiji, but more out of hope that it will rebound as people get sick of Marketplace than any expectations of lots of useful interest.

Setting up an FB account with no real personal info that you only use for Marketplace and Groups is just as safe as Kijiji and Forums in my opinon, so really nothing to dislike.

But my biggest problem is they give you all of these options to sort, but none of them work. I wish they'd just remove them instead of teasing and taunting me to keep trying in the hopes they will one day work.

And then there's a max distance you can set your search to, which is only 500 kms.
