Broke my own rule about not buying a new motorcycle. Unfortunately the selection of used Gen3's is so low I ended up with new. I'll be picking it up next week. Mine is exactly as shown below except mine is an S model which is factory lowered. The second new vehicle I have ever owned. FWIW this is only slightly more than driving a brand new Ford Ranger off the lot in '86.

All my KLR buddies in the KLusteR seem to think 65,000kms is the best before date for KLRs. I didn't want to believe it but with almost 70K on the clock it's showing it's age. I had an issue last fall and now the spark and shock problem so I thought it was time. Sadly mine was the last Gen1 in the KLusteR.

The doo-hickey issue is highly over rated, likely by the guy building replacements. I have friends who never changed it and never had an issue.
