I think I offended some Sellers.

Been on the hunt for a clean unaltered sport bike but too many Owners have modded their rides to their own personal taste.

Seems I upset some Sellers when asking if the original exhaust system is available or why murals on the bike depicting their dogs, naked babes or skeletons, can be removed.

Is it too much to ask that the bike be made to look like it left the showroom ?

If I wanted to buy a bike that looks new, I would buy a bike off the showroom floor.

Really? Someone bought a bike, made it their own? Don't go look at them if it's not what you want? I'm not sure what else can be said here. :dontknow:

What's wrong with naked babes?

Asking about exhaust is fine as many people do keep stock ones and with all the noise by-laws, it's reasonable to inquire. "Art work" on bikes - I can see owners getting upset as they will usually think it looks good. Vinyl you can always remove. You can ask if it's vinyl, air brushed or paint if you can't see clearly on the pic. Don't ask about removing it.

I threw my OEM exhaust out because nobody wanted it.

If somebody has a full system with a PC3/PC5/Bazzo/ECU flash done correctly and isn't charging $1000 extra for it, you'd be an idiot not to buy it.

....now if they hacked off their exhaust or put a slip on/full system without tuning it...I would not buy it =P

If you go on most bike specific forums, you'll find people giving away the stock exhausts for free or almost. That is an easy and simple thing to change. Don't see how it could possibly be a deal breaker, especially if you can sell the aftermarket exhaust for some money.

Custom paint is another matter, but most used bikes that I've seen don't have that, just some simple add ons.

You already know what the bike looks like from most ads seems odd to expect another looking bike? If they want to give extra parts well that's the seller's choice, my two cents which I'm sure is not enough :) I think your post has offended Elwood :) (just kidding)

What kind of shoes are made from old Dunlop tires or banana skins........slippers

Those bikes sell quickly. What is ridiculous is the guys who make their bikes into Easter eggs and then expect it to not devalue the bike.

Factor in the costs of un-f--king it up when making an offer, because those custom paint bikes don't sell.

When I sold my GSXR, all OEM parts went back onto it.
Nobody will pay you any extra for a modded bike, but you can resell those used parts for half of retail....so I recovered some more of my costs by selling exhaust, wave rotors, power commander, gel seat etc seperately.

I'm constantly surprised at how few people do this.

All that custom crap has zero value at dealer trade-in or used sales. It makes much more sense to keep the stock parts, swap out the custom parts on resale, and eBay all the custom parts. All these people giving away stock pipes should look at the cost of stock pipes in the restoration market 20 years down the road. Scoop up all those pipes and store them, better than gold.

Plus, many customizers have NO CLUE what they are doing and have resulted in a bike that cannot be certified and was running much worse than stock.

This guy's only hope is to figure out a painless way to get this bike totalled :(

This made me giggle. I think he could sell it though as long as he targets the right demographic. A large black woman who is not afraid to wear leopard print spandex perhaps?

Park it at Jane & Finch mall. That should do the trick.

Throwing in a FREE, used, stinky mohawk helmet that's unlikely to be the size I wear, is a nice touch indeed.

keep asking those questions. Those are questions I ask. I have helped my friend purchase a used bike and I also purchased a used bike.

I personally don't mind that ZX7 at all....almost looks like the 93 special edition that came in burgindy....but with a snakeskin tatooed overtop. But of course, modifying thr paint really narrows the potential market for the bike.
