Yup, its down. Salt brine on the 404, first sign of winter.

They're pouring salted water on the 404? Holy crap...

Yea, I was about to ask myself. I saw one last night, but it wasn't spraying any salt. I stop riding when they salt the roads. I'd probably ride all winter otherwise.

That stuff will play havoc with your disc brakes caliper assembly.

Unless you're consistently exposing it to excessive amounts and not cleaning, I don't really see it being much of a problem.
Just get a two wheel winter beater...an older or naked 250 or a dual sport is great. The less bodywork and cc the better, your rear won't spin as easy on throttle inputs and if you do go down not as much cosmetic damage.

its be cheaper to replace the caliper assbly every year, rather than insure a second bike,...

They did the 401 between Bowmanville to Ajax last Friday afternoon. A couple hours after I washed my car and just before I travelled that exact stretch (road was still wet). I was ****** both for my now freshly salted vehicle and knowing my riding season is ending.

its not necessarily about being cheaper but having something for the job...and its never bad having a second bike.
Also if you ruin the bodywork on your nice shiny bike and you want to make it look good again the costs start adding up. Better to just have something you don't have to worry about and if you do dump it, whatever, pick it up and keep on ridin

Having a second, third and fourth is better :)
all my bikes are away for the winter with the exception of the DRZ400. the winter beater and it's dirt cheap to insure.

Bump... any one know if they started salting yet? I saw some white stuff on the road this morning. Im really paranoid about the damn salt.

?
Saw the trucks last week...this isn't something new. :P

BUT BUT Thursday + fri + sat is supposed to be 10+ ... debating if I should ride or not lol.
