HyperPro & Ohlins Steering Damper Price Check

For those who have purchased a HyperPro or Ohlins Steering Dampers, how much did you pay for it?

So far, I've seen Hyperpro for $450 CAD shipped to the GTA and Ohlins for $590 USD shipped to CBI.

I picked up Ohlins for $329 shipped to Buffalo.
What bike and where did you mount it?
If it's the just damper itself, for an OEM location your $329 is more or less the right price.
But if you're looking to get the mounting brackets, etc. you won't find cheaper than what the OP posted.
I can get an Ohlins for my GSX-R (OEM Location) for around the $350 mark, where a top triple/tank mount for my CBR was $550 +

Check with Dave @ Competition Cycle. I was shopping for a full bazazz system and his price was so close to american prices.

+1 for Dave...
He gave me better prices than what I can get across the border or find anywhere locally.

I would suck it up and pay the extra money for Ohlins...... I bought two: one for the R6 and one for the old F4 (now sold). Quality item you can't go wrong with. And Pro6 is licensed/trained to refresh the dampers whenever you want/need it. I believe Accelerated Technologies can, but I haven't checked for certain (John does deal in Ohlins parts).

I've seen the GPRs have internal seals fail and lose damping force and/or leak. Can't speak for the newer models form the factory, but I dare you to find someone say their Ohlins product failed them.

Dave rocks, I'll be getting a new SPIDI suit from him.

My Hyperpro RSC has already failed after 4 weekends of racing. The last day of racing in Oct, I had a very hard time maintaining control of the bike at al, and kept cranking it up lap after lap till it was full, and it still shook like crazy everyt ime I accel'd on corner exit or over bumps. The Ohlins on my other bike has been on there for at least 3 race seasons without any probs.

1 1/8 seasons on my hyper pro RSC and its still good. It'll be getting rebuilt with my suspension next season. Maybe you got a bad one omnivore? If you already have an oem damper you may not need the mount. My buddy got an ohlins for his 09 R1 from John for much less than $800 because it was a direct bolt on.

I got my damper with the 929, still new in the package from the bike's previous owner, who is a well known local racer and is Hyperpro sponsored. I tried to get a hold of him to see if he can contact the supplier....but he has moved and doesn't reply to my emails.
So I called Bluestreak, and turns out there's no Hyperpro service guy anymore, but there old guy in New York may still be able to help me, at my cost of course.

For gsxr's, other than being able to adjust the damper while on the bike, is there any advantage in damping performace between the top triple clamp mount, vs the OEM position at the lower triple?

I'll probably be looking for an Ohlins soon as well.
