How to purchase a motorcycle?

After deciding what bike or bikes you prefer, give me a call for a small fee. I will do a 40 point inspection so you get the best bang for your dollar. I have done this for many new and experienced riders with no complaints. Its worth the money if you do not have a reliable source to check each motorcycle before you commit to purchase.

yes people put more than the legal weight in their pickups without issue - but several thousand pounds?
put several thousand pounds in your pickup (3000lbs+) and send me a pic. of it for a laugh

Personally I wouldn't get the cops involved. Somebody could wind up dead. To serve and protect, another sham. I'm telling you, it's never as advertised.

At this point it's likely easier to just avoid buying a motorcycle. It's nearly impossible to get them home.
Stupid rental companies with their stupid tailgates and stupid tape.

your killing me inreb... lmao 2 by fours and sick cops? huh?
as a truck driver i know the penalties for being overweight are harsh and there is a formula for every vehicle (gvwr). just put 3000lbs in your pickup and send me a pic.

Gotta think outside the box.

and what would the extra charge be for? taking off tape? then, if you are worried about it lol put tape back on. easier to use a $15 rental trailer and borrow a car with trailer hitch. what a dumb thread..
What I am saying is that if they forbid you from taking off the tailgate, and said there would be a charge if you did, and then you did, but did not notice the tape then you would be subject to said charge. What would the charge be for? No clue. But since when does someone need a reason for charges? Please see @inreb's comment above about cops and such. Don't you and Kanes go trying to bring logic into an illogical thread.
And for the record, that Kanes offer sounds like a pretty good deal.

1/2 ton =1000lbs
3/4 ton=1500lbs
payload includes passengers/drivers. do not try to carry several thousand pounds

The payload capacity of current trucks is quite a bit higher then these figures. Of course it depends on what spec the truck is but you can't really say a 1/2 ton can only carry 1000lbs and 3/4 1500lbs.

Most half tons are rated for close to 2000lbs now and 1 tons up to 5000 pounds as has been said the name 1\2 ton etc is meaningless
Edit from GMC website for 3500 pick up

CAPABILITY

Maximum Gooseneck/Fifth wheel trailering capacity of 23,300 lbs2*and maximum payload of 7,153lbs3

So true. Most prostitutes referred to as "one ton hoes" do not actually weigh one ton.

How many of said "one ton hoes" will safely fit in the back of a pick up truck?
Please provide examples using the tailgate, and without tailgate.

HEY Joe from DA'BRIDGE :) ... reread the initial post.... a fee would be the deductible ($1000) if there was damage to the vehicle which includes the tailgate. If the cables were taped there may of been damage already hence the inquiry.......

Just load the bike with the tailgate in place like every other person that loads motorcycles, atv's and snowmobiles into their trucks. Your making a big deal about nothing.

I've loaded my bike onto my buddy's truck like that all the time for track days.

And in the pits, all of the pick-up trucks there unload and load with their tailgates on. In fact, if you have a short bed, the rear wheel ends up resting on the tailgate for transport, so you can't remove the tailgate anyway.

This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone needing to remove the tailgate to load a motorcycle.

Yeah, so, reread my post. I was on your side.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Over the years we have had a number of links to You Tube videos of people loading motorcycles into pickups.
The funny ones are the fails, but there are a number of videos that show the correct way to do it (no fail).
The odd thing is, I don't recall any of them showing the tailgate removed.
