We do:
get with the times, those are out of circulation and not valid currency anymore.

I'm pretty sure it says "Legal Tender" on the bill and I don't see an expiry date on it.
My wife and I were talking about this the other day. She found a couple one and two dollar bills and we were talking about how if we brought them to a store a younger kid wouldn't know them. She wondered if they would have to take them though.
I believe that they would no have to take them because they can refuse any form of payment. A vendor doesn't have to take your money at all. But I said I think a bank would have to give us "modern" currency for it because wouldn't they just get I back from the Mint?
Sure a young person may not recognize it so they would be hesitant to accept it but they would be stupid not to do so.
It is legal tender...and worth more than it's face value now to collectors if it is in good condition.
