Honda NC700

I think it'll flop.

Too expensive. Too heavy. Doesn't solve any real problems in my opinion that ANY bike with good aftermarket side cases couldn't. Didn't they already basically try this with the DN-01?

For that kind of money, get some after market GIVI side bags on ANY bike, and you'd actually get some adrenaline out of riding a bike. Which in my opinion is what commuting on a motorcycle is all about.

Too expensive? Isn't it supposed to be under $9000? Their site doesn't list a price.

If its sub-9k then it's a decent buy. If it's more, people would be dumb to get it over a VFR1200 which is twice the bike, and currently being sold stateside brand new for 10k.

Better choice IMHO :

http://www.bmw-motorrad.ca/bikes/F650GS

Only 9 grand. Lots of nice options available. 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. Prolly will outshine the Honda in every category. Ok, so it doesnt have "tank storage". Throw on a set of bags, or rear case and you are good to go.

.

Definitely looks like a cooler more rugged bike ^^^ if price was the same I'd definitely get the BMW no questions asked

I'm buying whatever bike Rodney's buying. I just wish he'd hurry up and make up his mind.

the f650gs is still tempting me.. that and the shiver ... but I'm imagining the 700 with 2 givi trekker sidebags, the tank storage, and a tenere tent strapped to the back and I feel giddy..

good things it's not out till june. lots of time to argue :D

I'm no expert, but I don't know how one can compare the BMW and the Aprilia with the new Honda. If it was my dough, I'd take the Shiver, easy choice.

PLEASE NOTE:
I didn't start this thread because I'm getting or even considering this bike. I posted this thread because I thought it was an interesting bike and thought others might find it neat as well.

funny thing is there was a full on discussion in the bike show thread on this very model

That's the problem, there is no comparison. all 3 are very different bikes. if they were similar it would be easy to knock one out.
shiver just seems like a fun machine, but I imagine myself going to Algonquin on it and that's a joke. no way it would deal with that situation baggage wise.
bmw was made for going to Algonquin and can easily take hardbags, and it'll happily take me to work, but like now, I'll be strapping things to it when I go to work or out.

nc700, possibly not the fun machine for speed, though many 20+ yr riders here have fun on 125's, so fun is relative and theres always twisties, but I know it would handle camping, and I know I wouldn't need to strap random things to it like side bags or tank cases for daily activity.

sorry.. very rude of me to hijack.. I should really start a diary, maybe something pink and with cursive writting and stickers.

Anyone have any info on 2uping on this bike? comfort/handling? That's another critical factor for me since I love taking my friends n wifey for rides. That's the only reason I'm considering a cruiser next year since both of us can couch our touches =D

How 'bout tyres? I like to get tires for longevity and multi-weather. Anyone know the size?

I would think that this engine would be similar in power etc compared to the NT700V, also called the Deuville? in Europe. Over there that bike is a very popular touring/commuting/2up rig. Its hard to tell by the side profile of the NC700 how wide the rear seat is, but it looks flat and not slanted, so it should be reasonably comfortable for a passenger. Add a top box with padding and the passenger should have little to complain about.
