hondas new cbr500r is about $6860 msrp (with taxes included) on their website. im just wondering if it would be possible to get it for lower or is the price i should expect? if anyone has already purchased one could you please let me know how much it worked out to?

thanks

Every dealer has a little room but I wouldn't expect much for a brand new model. Go to a powerhouse and haggle. Worst case scenario you walk out without a bike.

On a brand new, newly released bike, good luck...
You'll be better off trying to get a couple services thrown in or gear at a discounted price.

whats the price before taxes?

$6300 w/o abs
$6800 w/ abs

I highly doubt you will get much, if any, of a discount on a bike that has just been released. You will probably be looking at around +$500 for pdi and freight fees.

fyi as a 250 owner I got an advertisement in the mail regarding $250 off the purchase of a new 500. I never actually read it (interested in the 600 myself), but if it is like the 250 'deal' last year it means if you put down $250 they'll match it with $250, so you essentially get that much off automatically.

It's not a lot, but means you should be able to get it down at least that much by haggling. Also worth checking is what the estimated first service cost for the 500 will be -- On my 250, it was a $500+ job (checking and potentially re-shimming valves), so I had them throw it in as well. They thought they were just adding a $20 oil change, and weren't very happy with sales when I bought the bike in a few months later lol.

if your gonna go in there ready to buy try to negociate and a great spot to start is at the msrp price out the door with all the fees and taxes included and see what they counter , whats the worse thats gonna happen they say no

When i got my quite at the December show it was like 8800$ with all taxes and fees in. I think it was around $700 in dealership fees alone. So $6860 is already a huge improvement! Although $6300 + tax is 7119 so the 6860 is way better price.

thanks for the suggestions guys ill give it a shot and let you know how it goes. but i may also just jump ship to the new ninja 300s :p

Ive been looking into this bike and have phoned every Honda dealer in Ontario. The ones closest to Toronto (Markham and Missississiisisisisiiauga) will let you put a 500.00 deposit and will give you a 399.00 discount .... however ... Honda gave some dealerships (if they arent lying to me) a release date of the end of March .. I spoke to a Northern Dealership (I have a friend of a friend of mine that works there) and he said to be perfectly honest .. Honda is not giving dealers dates .. infact Honda told him that because he is a Northern Dealership and the season tends to start later there for riders due to the snow disappearing slower ... that they may have to redirect the 14 bikes that he ordered (on the first set of bikes being released) Most of the GTA dealerships have quite a few deposits .. so I struck a deal with the Northern Dealership (with a handshake not a 500.00 deposit) that as soon as the crate arrives with a black cbr500ra .. they will call my cellphone and I will be there as quickly as possible to sign the paperwork .... and own a new bike ...

we shall see ......

Well I didn't purchase the cbr500r... I did sign for a cb500f at $7140 OTD. My price before everything for just the bike was $5798 (Includes $250 loyalty discount from Honda). You should be looking at about $6300 to $6600 before everything gets tacked on for the ABS CBR500R model.

Not from tight *** Honda! Not much anyways. I was intersted in a new 600 in 09 and while shopping around got nowhere with Honda dealers on price. New model or not they don't seem to want to give any discounts. Ended up getting a kawi instead they gave me $1000 off and no fees (pdi or freight) and got the bike to me 3 months ealier then Honda said I would get one from them. Also this was all cash up front negotiation

I just bought another new model 2013 zx6r in dec, got the same deal as in 09 $1000 off retail and no dealer fees at all. No haggling called said I wanted to buy and that's what the dealer offered me.

Although my bike is more expensive and had more room, I called for a ninja 300 for my girl. Said there wasn't enough room for a discount, but still can do no fees, so that's still $700 saved
