Occurred at 10:00AM-11:00AM. Bike is a 250R red Ninja. Jackass left a number that is constantly redirecting to voice mail, what options does my friend have? I told them to report it to the collision center asap and try to get security footage of the guy's car: at least if they can't find the plate, if she sees the car in the future she can confront them.

What are chances of the # being a dud?

if the damage warrants it, you could report it and put that they left a number, etc, in the report.
If it isn't much damage, not worth the hassle with insurance, otherwise, go through ins (yea it's a pain, just look up some posts on here by lilsushi or busabob when their bikes were hit while parked)

did the note look like this:

No, the note actually had a phone number and name. I reported to the police already.

The damages are well over 1k ...

They might write off the bike... something to be prepared for.
crappy situation but I guess better now than in April? Positive things.

It was just dropped on the left side ...

Both fairings need to be replaced, left side of the tail fairing, fairing over the wheel, left signal light, shift lever (and the rod behind it).

I don't think that would be enough for a write off.

I guess no witness or plates?

^ Correction: How much will your insurance company pay out.

Hard to say. Start collecting/printing kijiji / craigslist ads for similar bikes / mileage.

Usually a write of is around the 75% of the bikes value, when mine was backed into it needed both side fairings, front fairing, levers, mirrors, stator cover, bar ends and the gas tank had a scratch and exhaust mid-pipe was dented and it was quoted at $4,200 damage.

Was that your estimate or did you take it to a Kawi Dealer and they priced out OEM replacements? Because that's what your insurance is going to do.

This was my estimate, it's around 1-2k to fix. I'm not sure if there's any internal damages ... there shouldn't be from a drop but I guess I should take it to the Kawi Dealer or Ted's to see.

The insurance company will only take an estimate from a reputable shop/authorized dealer. They will use the OEM pricing to return the bike to the "condition that it was in" prior to the incident. Your estimate could be accurate, but more often than not, much lower than what it would 'really cost' to repair.

Have a look at the threads I mentioned earlier to get an idea of what I mean.

Yea, thanks =/

Now I'm just sitting on the person to call me back and see what the police is gonna do. I filed a report ... but I don't know what follows after because all the person left was a number, and we're waiting on the security footage to be pulled from the property management at Uptown Markham Plaza.
