How do people manage to drive at average of 130 on the 407 without issues?
This mentality that "Speed" is the problem is what is causing the grid lock in this city.
I agree with you that the quality of driving skills in Ontario is really bad, but slowing people down, it just gives them more of a perception of safety and then is when they get distracted and start using their phone, drinking their 2x2 coffee while eating their burger all of this while driving on the passing lane.
If they felt the urgency of movement from a higher speed limit, they will first move the hell away into the slow lane and then pay attention to their driving and not be distracted.
Drove in Europe for 3 weeks, when you got into a city, there was no time to grab your phone and make a call, you needed to get the hell out of the way and concentrate on driving because people meant business, the car was to get from A to B, not to use as your personal office.
But people that think like you will never understand, I guess the rest of us just have to live with having to drive around the Sunday drivers on the fast lane.
