Yes the left is the safest.
Many newbies are not comfortable at the speeds around the GTA that the left lane moves at.
This thread is advice for a new rider who is a bit intimidated ( with good reason ) with the speeds in the left lane.
Oh my bad, I didn't realize the left lane is only the safest if you're speeding. Just so we're clear, you advocate speeding in the lane with a wall that has oncoming traffic on the other side as an escape, versus doing the speed limit safely in the right (proper) lane that has an escape route with no oncoming cars next to it.
We'll get right on that.

You're advocating sticking at 100 kph in the right lane......oh I'm sure you'll be just fine on the GTA slabs on a Friday late afternoon
If you can't stay with traffic stay off the slab.
