Crash kills female motorcyclist

A 49-year-old female motorcyclist was killed Monday night when she lost control of her bike and struck a guardrail on Highway 406 south of Westchester Ave. in St. Catharines at about 6:30 p.m.
Ontario Provincial Police say the woman was northbound on the highway when the accident occurred. A pickup truck apparently struck the motorcycle after the woman was thrown from it.
The woman, who was alone on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her name and hometown has not yet been released by OPP.
The investigation was expected to continue and keep the highway northbound lanes closed until late Monday evening.
Police ask that anyone with information on the accident contact investigators at 905-356-1311.
