The easiest solution, if you need help, is to WAVE PEOPLE DOWN. it gets their attention much faster.

Honestly, I do not recall reading about this in my G1 manual. I certainly was not told about this info while practising for my G2 by the instructor.
It was only when I read the M1 training manual that I now know about it.
...So most cagers will probably not be aware of this idea, they are more likely to stop if you have your helmet on and are fideting with the bike while on the side of the curb....

Not any that I've ridden with over the last 35 years.
It's great it's in the book but I think if you're expecting riders to understand it, let alone other motorists, you're going to be disappointed.

I have never once heard of this sign before in my 12 years of riding, nor have I ever seen it.
I am with Griffin on this one...always used the thumbs up check. If I get a thumbs up back I keep riding. If I get flailing waving arms I stop.
for sure good advice.
ran out of gas today 16 kms from Drumhellor. Called AMA (CAA) they made it a priority call because they can hear the semi trucks rumbling by me but will be in 90 minutes. Meanwhile I put my helmet back in my top case and get bunch of bikers stopping to see if I need any help. Nope just out of gas so they go on their way. Pickup dude stops to check up on me than on his way. Half hour later he comes back with a jerry can of gas and bottle water and follows me into town to make sure I get there safely. Man Albertans are awesome! Didn't have to flag anyone down or put my helmet anywhere because I was waiting for AMA.

I too do the thumbs up thing.
If someone needs help I have no problem pulling over to assist.
My problem is when I pull into a Hortons or whatever and see helmets on the ground.
Sorry all but I just don't understand this.
When parked I always hang mine from the handlebar or grip.
I suppose guys do this cause the helmet is expensive and don't want it to fall to the ground

But you do this in a Hortons parking lot and have a coffee?
I find this odd.
