Helmet Lock or cable recommendation?

Why is that? I am in my helmet, jacket, gloves about 8 to 9 months of the year, they go everywhere with me and I rarely leave them locked in the bike. Jacket over the chair, gloves in the helmet, helmet. No issues in movie theatres, restaurants, or anywhere else. Been doing that since I started riding at 16 in high school. Had a locker, but the helmet would not fit so I just kept it all with me.
 
I realize this is thread for both helmet and jacket locking, but this might be of use to someone. The Helmet guardian is a decent way to lock up a helmet or two. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/helmet-guardian-black

I used to keep a kryptonite cable lock under my seat for my jacket, but I keep too much stuff in too many jacket pockets, so I often didn't remember to take it all with me.

I now wear my jacket with me wherever I go or put it in one of my hard cases.

I hang my helmet on the mirror, toss my jacket over the windscreen and walk away lol. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for doing that but my jacket only cost $200 so I'm not gonna cry if I lose it. Instead I'll enjoy the convenience of not having to worry the vast majority of the time. I wouldn't do this with more expensive gear and still lock up my helmet under the pillion if I'll be out of sight for a while.
 
Would someone really steal a sweaty, bug-gut ridden 3 year-old leather jacket?

Probably not, so I don't mind leaving it on the bike. Of course, i use my discretion based on how long I'll be away from the bike, where I'm parking and whether or not i can take my gear with me. In the 4 seasons I've ridden, I've only left my gear on my bike while parked a handful of times.

How is that different than using the hooks under the pillion seat?
 
It's only different in that I don't have to lift my seat up every time I want to lock up my helmet(s). I haven't used the hooks under the seat for many years, but when doing so on one of my older bikes, the helmets would also rub against the underseat fairing and leave black scuff marks from repeated use.

It's also just a whole lot faster and more convenient - especially since I use my bike as a daily rider, I am forever getting on and off my bike. If I used my bike only on weekends or something then maybe I wouldn't mind so much.

yup, people will steal anything.

stopped at a tim hortons for a coffee once with another rider and someone stole his helmet while he went inside.

Ok initially you only said you bring your helmet everywhere. For the amount of gear you have that sounds fine. Make it a 2pc suit or add some leg protection and boots to the mix and you probably don't have want to carry it all around all day. I know you can switch to more casual/comfy gear but some people want the best protection which doesn't always translate well to casual wear.
