Helmet Lock or cable recommendation?

Hey guys,

Just looking for a recommendation for a helmet lock of sorts or something I can use to leave my helmet/jacked locked to the bike?

I've heard those kryptonite ones are useless, easy to cut.

What do you guys suggest anyway in that regard, other than "bring the helmet/jacket with you" (in those cases when I really can't)?

Thanks!

If you have a tube on your bike, you can bolt on this.

I could do that, but anyone can cut through the helmet strap (with scissors, if they wanted to) and I am looking for a cable long enough to lock a jacket in too...

If they cut through the strap it's ruined well I wouldn't trust it nor would most motorcyclists. Maybe the crack heads would though . Remember if someone wants something bad enough they will get it. Typically a lock of some type through the metal on the strap is enough of a deterrent. I use the pilon seat method posted above.

Agreed... although the straps in your helmet are replaceable, so it's not ruined. I have a thin steel cable that I can loop through my jacket, and use to lock it under the pillion seat. It's just a deterrent, but someone prepared could take it if they really wanted to.

I carry a small cable bike lock with me and loop it thorough my jacket and chin bar of my helmet.

I'm surprised people actually leave their jackets on the bike. A simple wire cutter can cut those cables, thus losing your $600 jacket and helmet.

A simple wire cutter? Not really unless you were to sit there and cut each strand individually.
Bolt cutters? Yes but even still i doubt it would cut the stranded cable all in one shot.
A proper cable cutter and it would not stand a chance. I'm guessing people who can afford a $4-500 cable cutter aren't looking to steal my icon jacket.

This is what I use. I loop it through my jacket sleeve, through the chin piece on my helmet, and loop it through a spoke on my rim, or even passenger peg.

Pretty sure someone would notice this suspicious person trying to chop through that sucker, since they'd be there for quite some time lol

It also packs away nice and snug into my R6's trunk.

look at laptop locks with an alarm. they are annoyingly loud and would definitely get attention if they are messed with, the wire should be long enough to run through a helmet and jacket. only thing is that they are not water proof.

just don't leave your helmet on your bike near club district. wasn't there a guy on here a while back that had his helmet pee'd in???

Not surprising. Just don't park your bike in an area full of drunks period. Leaving all your expensive gear hanging off it is taking it to another level.

Thats ultimately the best solution, but not everyone has a case, or wants to add them to a bike. Personally I could not live without locking hard cases.

When I did not have cases, I just kept my gear with me, never found it to be a real hassle to carry my helmet into school, even class to class, just put it under my desk or chair. Out of sight of mind. Ultimately anything left out on the bike, chained or not, has the risk of vandalism or theft. The only place I leave my gear on the bike, is in my hard cases.

That works great if the only gear you wear is a helmet.

For helmet locking I just use the lock cables that come with my bike.
