Helmet for glasses

Any recommendations for helmets that can accommodate prescription glasses? I have a fairly large head, and my xl hjc helmet is very snug around the cheeks and ear area.... Making it impossible for the arms to go through

Contacts are not possible for me

Any suggestions would be helpful... Going to try on a few this weekend at the show

I have a shoei rf1100 and rf1200 and my glasses don't annoy me while wearing either. Keep in mind that until a new helmet is "broken in" they may be a little uncomfortable.

I agree with Roomie's post. I have a Shoei RF-1000 that I've been wearing for years and I've never had a problem with my glasses. I just picked up an RF-1200 and they seem to fit without problems in it as well.

I've found it has a lot to do with the type of glasses you wear. If you have the plastic frames, you'll likely have more of an issue finding a helmet.

The only helmets I've had problems with are Suomy.

I have an AVG modular and Shark S500 and HJC, all work with my glasses for me. Arai that I had was ok. It really depended on the glasses I had on. My prescription Oakley sunglasses have an arm shape that do not fit well in any helmet.

I've been using my XL Bell Vortex helmet with glasses for a while now and no problems. At first it was really tight, but then once the inside formed better it's much more comfortable.

Once I pick up a new pair of glasses this season, I will keep the old pair and chop off the end part that goes around the ear. It should be better as that's the piece that hurts the most when the ears get compressed with the helmet on.

I have an Aria helmet and wear glasses with it no problem. My glasses are straight though, dont come down around the ear ... straight like sunglasses

Most Shark models have little foam inserts that can be removed to allow room to slide your glasses frame in. They fit in a little liner pocket, so its easy to take them out or put them back in, depending if you need the extra space or not.

own a shoei rf1100 and a icon variant, shoei is very comfortable however the icon for me a stiffer so the glasses are very tightly squeezed. during long trips wouldn't be as comfortable

Yup I got the Shark Vision-R and there are these inserts that you can remove; I wear oakleys were the glasses ear piece doesn't hook around the ear. That makes it easier to slide into the helmet.

I have an Arai and it's fine for glasses. The way the padding is set up it appears they've designed it so that the frames can easily fit. I tried on a couple different models at this years Montreal show and I was able to wear my glasses with all of them.

I tried a Schuberth helmet recently and no way would I be able to wear glasses so you can scratch that brand from your list.

Also consider getting a helmet with a built in visor, if you wear glasses, they make excellent sunglasses no need to carry both pairs

Any sort of recommendation is useless here - everything depends on the shape of your head and the type of glasses you wear.

Sounds like you have a round head, so getting a rounder helmet is prolly not an option (HJC is already quite round.) You kight wanna try swapping stock cheekpads for thinner ones.

Plus the fabulous enlarged field of view ... Fantastic helmet. I love mine.

Why don't you guys just get lasik?

Not everybody likes someone to play with laser in their eye. Not every surgery ends up as a success, plus you have to be good candidate to start .... in another words long list of reasons.

For what it's worth I wear Oakley framed glasses and my shoei rf1000 along with my shoei quest work great.

Now, finding a motocross helmet that accepts glasses happily is another story all together. :)

i've worn a few different types of glasses in my shoei qwest, and they work fine. a good way to check, is to go to a place where you can try lots on, and try a bunch of different helmets with your glasses on.
