welcome!Looking for a Structural safety facility in the Barrie Ontario area for a motorcycle. My insurance co requires me to get a Structural safety in order to rebrand it and put it back on the road. Any information would help
Thanks so much for the information. It has been beyond frustrating dealing with Echelon Insurance during the last leg of the process. I was told I can re register it and put it back on the road yet there is no motorcycle "Structural" safety inspection stations available. I will have to be patient with the Echelon representative and get the correct branding of said motorcycle. I did buy the bike back at an extremely reasonable price but it's been beyond frustrating trying to get the right answers. I got payed out but still am waiting five (5) days for Echelon to release bike from storage that they spent/ wasted over $3000. Thanks again, MortieIn that case - there may be a wrinkle.
They MAY not have branded the bike at all when they sold it back to. I have bought back a bike from the insurance company, and re-registered it with no issue. It was never branded as irreparable.
You may also have encountered a broker / adjuster that confused the processes for cars and motorcycles. You CAN get a car branded as salvage re-branded as rebuilt. If they sold the bike back to you under these circumstances, you need to push back. If they valued it correctly (it should not have been worth much) then you may be forced to part it out to recover your costs.
I will keep you posted. Thanks againI'd be very interested in hearing how this turns out. I have heard of financial write-offs, where the damage is limited to cosmetics and the ownership is not branded, but then why would they ask for a "structural safety"? Maybe they just meant a standard safety, if the ownership changed from you to them, then back to you.
