Hardened masking tape on fairings - best way to remove?

I cracked some plastic on my Multistrada a while ago, and to prevent the plastic from separating more I slapped some masking tape on it until I could figure out what to do with it. It turned out it didn't bother me - really at all - I actually saw it as a sick badge of honour - but after a year or so it became hard.

I soaked it with GooGone and WD-40 but neither seems to really loosen it up.

Suggestions? I'm putting it up for sale and want to get that part at least looking clean.

Soak in wd40. That should soften it and allow most tape yo be removed. Then something like citrisolv to remove the goo left behind.
I've gotta give it another soaking then I guess. I soaked it one whole weekend last summer and it didn't seem to do much.
Heat gun?

I thought about this. Is there any danger that heat could damage the plastic? I guess WD-40 AND heat gun would be a bad idea....

Hot water or a heat gun (be careful not to melt anything) and a plastic "razor" to get off the residue then rubbing alcohol on microfiber to finish it off
