H-D has a new boss

Harleys do tend to stay on the road longer which is a factor also, people keep them going longer.

Think you will find a lot more 1970s and forward Hondas on the road than anything else.....and with high mileage as well....not garage queens either.

Overall 35% profit margin. Clothing should have a higher rate than bikes but when they are 1/20th of the gross, even at 95% margin (which they aren't) it still isn't a huge part of the profit. It's an extra nice to have portion.
Maybe they make 35% on a p/u truck but nobody is making that kind of $$$ on any new motorcycle.

They p*ssed away the Heritage Fund then come cap in hand to Ottawa to bail them out.
I'm sorry, what?

I think the Alberta and HD threads are getting muddled together. Heritage fund was AB running a deficit every year since 2008 in times of great prosperity.
If only they weren't carrying the rest of the country, eh? Great prosperity for other provinces collecting welfare checks from Alberta. Don't get to collect transfer payments for years and talk about "cap in hand"

Ok, so $36B pulled out of the fund, how much lost in transfer payments to date? When oil started diving, transfer payments continued. While the province burned, transfer payments continued.

Is this like telling your wife you blew the savings at the casino and blaming it on the mortgage?

No, it's the wife blowing the mortgage at the casino, and then you have to cash out the rrsp to cover it.

P&A in the bicycle biz is 100%. I'd assume the motorcycle biz are at least close to that.
