Got rear ended yesterday.

Bootin around yesterday and came to a stop at a red light. I was in the right curb lane. The car in the left lane was turning, as he turned through the red the guy behind him decided to try and blow through. Came over into my lane and hit me from behind. I had no defence, never even saw him in my mirror as he came at me on an angle. It blew me off my bike, I flew and hit the ground for a bit of skid. My bike was also put into a skid for a few feet.
Had to have it towed, the rear wheel is locked or jammed. I don't know yet.
Thank you to all the awesome people that helped me out - big thans to the E-Bike girl and I Never thought I would praise a e-biker. But here I am. She was a Huge help!
Bike is at the shop now, my *** is purple. Thanks to my Mesh jacket with amor. I always question wearing it. Glad I had it on or I'd be missing some skin right now. Hope to get my bike fixed up and back on the roads soon!!!

Sorry to hear you went down. Glad to hear you are okay...

ATGATT!!! It does pay off. I smh at those fools riding around in tshirts, shorts and deck shoes... or less!

I got rear ended in 2011, make sure you report it to your insurance. Depending on damage they may total it. Also the cops will send you a letter to testify as most likely the driver got charged with careless or something similar.

How long will it take OP to have his bike fixed or to get him another one by his insurance?? You are always the loser even if you are not at fault. Bye bye riding season.

It took me a month from time of the accident to getting my check, state farm

I have watched enough judge judy to know, take the insurance route. A dude telling me "oh give me the quote and I'll pay the bill" is a load!
Good to hear ZX600, it didn't take too long. I hope the same goes for me. I'll post if it's fixable or if I'm on the hunt for a new bike.

Be wary of any neck, spine or other pain. If you feel anything untoward, get to an ER and have it documented. This is no time for heroics. Yes, the bike is important but your body is more so.

Yeah... Pay the bill for the bike - who's going to give you a quote for medical bills? >.> "$10k!? You're just trying to scam me!"

I wish you a quick recovery. I went through the same about a month ago and I am still feeling it.

Op definitely go see your dr. I got rear ended by another bike last year didn't think I was hurt that badly, decided to take the "walk it off " route for the first couple fo days. I am still suffering, and getting treatment, (although each round of treatment now is a fight with insurance they say no, lawyers says see you in mediation insurer says ok treatment approved). I had a torn ligament in my elbow just from the forces of holding onto the bars. Both shoulders and one hand minor, (compared to other stuff), neck and back issues.

Canadian riding season is too short not to have plan B, especially after August 1. One should be able to hop from one bike to the next (injuries notwithstanding) with the least bit of bother. As yet this is an unwritten rule but should be carved into a picnic table somewhere sometime soon.

Get well soon. A friend had it happen at between Christmas & New Years a while back. Lady decided he would no longer be there when she got to the corner. Tore up his shoulder real bad. When it came time to pay up, she was insisting that it was somehow his fault.

And insurance-wise, you just do without?

Sorry to hear about this. Get well soon.

So did you fill out a police accident report and document everything? Because the next step of the insurance company is trying to figure out how to pay as little as possible, and they love technicalities.

And under new rules, if they just decide to deny a claim, we can no longer sue them.

Like I said, I went through the same about a month ago. I immediately called the police. The other person was charged with "following too close". Later that same day, I called my insurance company and filed a claim. A week later, the insurance company wrote off the bike and 2 days later a had the cheque in my hands (fair offer). I went straight to the dealer and bought a new bike. Exactly 2 1/2 weeks from the time of the accident until I was on my new bike.

It's all cosmetic and I bought it back from the insurance company. I am hoping to fix it during the winter.
