GoPro Alternative for iPhone?

...stumbled across this iPhone case, must say it's pretty interesting:

Certainly not as versatile as a GoPro, but at 1/3 the cost for those that already have iPhones it may be interesting.
Also if mounted in sight of the rider (tripple tees, windscreen etc) can serve as a GPS mount when not recording...

Hope there will be an iPhone 5 version shortly.

just a fyi, it's not an iphone but I used to do this with my samsung captivate. It only took a few hundred k for the vibration to destroy my phone and send it in for warranty . I tried twice and just gave up after.

If you have never heard of them these are in my opinion the best cell phone cases ever produced. You can buy a holder to fet the phone while in its case to any gopro mount.

It's not just a case... "OUTRIDE hardware integrates a wide-angle lens with a 170 degree viewing angle that's optimized for recording all your tricks, tracks, rides and epic outdoor moments" - otherwise you might as well just use any phone in video mode http://www.mophie.com/v/outride.html

VRUS, not sure about your experience but i've put well over 10K on my bike since outfitting it Ultimate-Add-Ons mount for my Samsung Gallaxy S2. The case has a rubber housing inside the plastic shell, which likely dampens any vibrations from the otherwise lively twin on the f800. I use the set-up as my primary GPS:

I have the lifeproof case for mine, it's submergible and thinner then otter box.
I havnt had it underwater but have had it in downpours on the bike. You can even listen to music and take video under water.
You can also get mounts specific tithe lifeproof case that mount to your handlebar ad they even mount directly to the GoPro mounts.

Does anybody have any experience with how the clip would hold up on bumpy roads?

I don't think the problem with using an iPhone as a gopro replacement is it's water resistance, it's just that it's not as good a quality camera.

as far as the vibration thing, I've had my iphone 4 now for a couple years, and have used it in a ram mount on both my old ninja 250 (lots of high frequency vibration) and now for close to 10,000km on my sv1000 (lots of lower and mid frequency vibration) and it still works just fine. I'm sure the ram mount dampens some of the vibes, but there's no way it's damping 100%

I think supahtim was referring to how the clip holds the phone into the mount when using the lifeproof system.

It's solid, not going anywhere even on rough roads.

those are some good mounts. Unfortunately I didn't have anything like that when I was testing it out .

The first thing to go was the vibrate motor, it went out 2/2 on repairs. The second thing to go was the micro-usb slot for power because I had constant power on the device for gps and internet radio.

Only lasted a few hundred kms on my sv650 both times before the phone conked out.

The new iphone builds are probably a lot stronger as well. I like the proprietary usb, it feels more solid than a regular micro and mini usb connection.

Best buy carries them also lol.

Just get a GoPro instead of wasting extra money/time on adapting phones, you'll damage your phone in the end. The GoPro is a much higher quality camera that was designed for just the one purpose and it does it best and it has the best and most extensive mounting options.

From the comments:

Utterly idiotic. The iphone can't take a clear photo with even the slightest amount of motion from the shooter. I'd love to see some "action shots" taken by an iphone. It will be a big, pointless blur. Dumb.
