Good riding roads?

When I discovered it 30 years ago, it rocked. If you choose the right time to ride it today, it still rocks.
It's just now that the home owners dislike you being on the road.
If you pick a time of day, when there are no cops and very little traffic, you can still rock that road.
At the right speeds that road is very cool.

Nobody rides it like we did 30 years ago.

Forks is overcrowded, regularly patrolled, and runs right through a bunch of houses and businesses. Houses owned by people who hate motorcycles. It's the first "twisty" road that anyone with a motorcycle ever hears about so everyone shows up trying to prove they are hot ****. It's a circus.

Not to mention right now both bridges are 1 lane with an automated light so it take forever to get through.

I avoid it like the plague. At best I'll stop at the coffee shop and continue up Mississauga Rd to more hassle free riding.

Where are some good routes in the GTA area? I know forks of the credit but it's a little far, I usually go to Old finch and rouge park, but what else are in the GTA area?

Thanks

old finch? a good road? U talking about a bike or a rally car?

Think we have it bad in GTA, try finding a decent road in Sarnia, Windsor or Chatham (other than the one along the river to Windsor.)

Yeah get out past KW and it's pretty grim.

Forks is just a little tasty morsel along with the tiny twist on Kings.
There is never any chance to settle into a spirited ride ala Wykoff etc.
Even River Road further north makes me nervous about cops as it's a road you COULD really have some fun on and REALLY lose your licence on with 50 kph zones. :(

That's why I love PA... long empty fun stretches and no cops and no agreement with Ontario even if you did get a ticket ( you have to watch that in New York )

That's part of the hassle in Ontario is the roads suck AND lots of cops.

I think you are wrong on that but it wouldn't be more than 70 at any rate where "should" one be "speeding"? ....
Therein lies the problem.

yes stay outa terra nova. theres no fun to be had there.

now that everyone is scared off i can have the road to myself.

East and North. Sheesh. Look for things that start with the number 5xx

hehe - yeah one guy I was riding with said the same....move on move on...nothing to see here - at least the sign is small :D

I went out for a ride today; went up to Rama and went across 503 and then down 507. What a blast. No traffic whatsoever and posted 80 limits everywhere except a couple of small towns along the way. The 503 has pristine asphalt, 507 not so much, but still pretty good. Excellent road for noobs like me, pretty much all long sweeping bends that can be easily taken 20 over without breaking a sweat.

Old finch is pretty bumpy. Had riders wipe out there a few times

Twyn Rivers is right near by. Much nicer pavement, a little longer of a ride than Old Finch ;) http://goo.gl/maps/PtJO5

Yeah, for those who have ridden it lately it sucks. The two automated lights really are a pain. Hopefully next season after the construction is done it will be business as usual.

I think we should STOP speaking of the Forks as a motorcycling road.
It is a family fun area path for visitors, local, and cyclists.
It is a scenic take a break kinda stop. It is a resting or sightseeing destination not the rip it up journey.

Start changing the conversation to it's stupid or rip through there or it's a nice slow road to sight see.

I am amazed that there has not been a serious accident with a bike and kid.

Good for you. I dont have and wont waste 3 hours of my time just to find a good road and then get completely exhausted afterwards. Im spending 30mins each day commuting already, is a waste of time, toronto has the worst commute times of the world. I would rather find somewhere closer to have some fun then to waste all of life travelling.

And good for you. I spend 2 hours a day minimum commuting, I'm just not a pussy about it and I enjoy dedicating time to my favourite hobby. I'm a bit upset I didn't get more kms out of summer than I did. I didn't get to go on my planned Nova Scotia trip this year.

Priorities man.... Priorities... Riding/cruising isn't at the top of everyone's list.

They are gone as will the speed bumps soon.
