Went for a ride and saw 0 salt trucks, also saw one other rider on what looked to be an older ninja 250 :)

Am I the only one that has no problem riding at temps that low? Last year including windchill I rode at -39c.

Judging by the number of bikes on the road in winter months, yes, you're one of the very few who bother riding a motorcycle in such conditions.

For me it's a matter of it being a dull and cold experience. My bike is recreational, so if I'm not having fun, I'm not riding it. ;)

I always wonder... How does the middle car get out when he/she has to go before the person behind or infront?
That's a used car lot, if we need to move the car in the middle we just move the one behind it...
However if you're parallel parked in between two cars in the curb lane, try and leave 1.5/2 feet between you and the car ahead of you.
Should give you enough room to maneuver and get your car out.

well whatever badass bike you have unless all you do us ride track, good luck trying to have fun without going insanely fast on public roads...You're the perfect example of the rider whose forgotten that it isn't always about going fast or having perfect optimal conditions for recreation. For others its more of a lifestyle, we don't just put on our cool gear and shiny boots for the weekends to go zippin around town, its everyday.

If you ride track all the power to you, and I can understand a bit better why you've lost taste....

Ahhh. That explains the picture, but i have seen some small lots parked like that in downtown.

Track and street, local and touring. I don't discriminate. But where it stops being fun is when my tires start losing grip and I have to slow myself down. And no, I don't have to go 'insanely fast'.... I call it 'spirited'.

Thanks for the good luck :)

I rode today it was no problem at all, just got home the snow is all gone and the roads are dry here in south etob. It was a mini blizzard around noon when i was at work but you could see it was melting as soon as it hit the ground. The ride home was actually really nice, sun is out, it's pretty windy with some gusts but that just makes it more fun :)

Tomorrow and Friday are supposed to be a degree or two warmer so i'll be riding the rest of the week for sure, still aiming for my goal of riding until the Dec bike show or until some real snow and ice stay on the ground whichever comes first.

Practice what you preach?

So now you're saying because a bike can ride off-road in dirt and mud it can automatically handle just as well on ice and snow? Mud is not as slippery as ice. Add to that the freezing temps making the tires harder and less effective. If your logic there made sense we would see tons of guys out in winter on dirtbikes on trials and on-off road bikes on the highways, yet we don't.. Yes it is possible to ride in snow and on ice, but it's extremely difficult and dangerous, factor in all the other traffic on the roads you have to watch for, and that's the reason you see very few people risking it. Time to close this thread man geez

And open a new thread, good one champ.

I rode to school today too. It just stopped snowing so I thought it would be fine. Although, I hoped off the highway after 2 exits. It was soh windy and everytime I felt a cross wind, I was expecting the bike to slip underneath me. Sure, I was a lil late for class but atleast I kept the rubber side down =D

BTW, does anyone have troubles starting their bike in this degree of weather or lower? I'm too paranoid to leave my bike outside for more than 3-4 hours. By then, she barely wants to turn over. Probably even worse if it hits -5 or lower.
