Go Pro piss off

I've been using my Go Pro for a few months now. Used it by attaching it to my Tank as well as to my helmet. Was told by many to use the Sealed door to cut down on the wind noise.

I took a trip to deals gap a few weeks ago and on my route back through the BRP I used the sealed rear door. Unknown to me, after about 10 minutes of riding the lens started to fog up leaving me with a hardly watchable run through the mountains. Not to mention the annoying whistling wind sound that resulted from the sealed case.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE my GoPro. I think the mix of the Camera getting warm/hot from running, and the cool air hitting the lens caused the fogging.

It seems like the sealed door should only be used in wet conditions.

Is this fogging normal?

Ahhh poop!

Well live and learn I guess. Too bad it ruined about 70% of my footage through the Blue Ridge parkway.

Sucks dude. I have some BRP footage if you want. :-)

Also, I think GoPro sells anti-fog inserts for just this purpose.

Yep...mine fogs too. I use the non-sealed door though most of the time, it's fine unless there's a deluge. Might see if I can fashion some inserts from silica packets.

I should grab those fog inserts, had it fog up on me once. Mind you when I was snowboarding last season I had no fogging at all.

Despite what the literature says, the open door is best option for sound quality on the bike - it sounds like crap with the sealed door no matter what speed you are going. Sorry - no tips for the fog issue - the only time I have used the sealed door was for snowboarding and scubadiving and I have never had an issue with fogging.

Thanks for all the tips.

I was told to use the sealed door and now that I have, I've learned my lesson and will stick to the Open back door unless it's raining or something.

Ah well. Live and learn.

<3 my Contour Roam, it's waterproof with no need for an external case, and still 1080P with a 170' FOV

I am looking at Contour Roam - is it true that to change between modes (video - still shots, etc) you need to connect it to PC?

Yes, slightly annoying, but a trade-off of the simplicity of only having 1 switch on the camera for on/off.
