Givi monorack bolt sheared off....how to find replacement size?

I noticed that my Givi monorack was a little loose this morning on my 2006 Z750S. I looked and the main load bearing bolt on one side of the rack had the head sheared off. I managed to remove the rest of the bolt inside the retainer. Is there a reference for the size of the bolt I should get as a replacement in terms of pitch of the thread and length etc? I've been looking but can't find details, I just find kits but no description. I have the old bolt thread so would a hardware store be able to accurately match it? I don't want to take the other bolt off the other side as it may be locktited on.

Thanks.

Go to the screws and bolts department of any Home Depot. There will be a screw/bolt thread and size matching plate mounted to the racks there, and it will have a variety of different bolt and nuts with thread pitch and size labels beside the. You can try screwing the remaining piece of bolt into the ones that look close and hopefully get the exact thread size and pitch. Home Depot may even have the replacement bolt you need in stainless steel.

If ya want, we have Stainless Steel hex head (allen) bolts. lemme know what size u need and come get it.

shops in bolton.

Thanks for the offer, that's exactly what I need but I'm in Ottawa right now. Looks like the sheet says M8 25mm but to me the bolt that fits looks longer than that.

25mm thread length only, not including the head.

Ahhhh....OK...as mentioned I'm in Ottawa....any idea what kind of company locally might sell replacement M8 25mm hex nut bolts? Do I have to go to a dealer for the replacement Givi part? What I have now looks fine, will hold up, but isn't a flush fit with the side rack. I would Paypal one of you guys in TO for a bolt but I realise it's a hassle packing it up and mailing it off.

I have a bag of stainless button head socket M8x25 sitting on the bench, but that's not much good to you in Ottawa. Got them from Brafasco who have 2 outlets in Ottawa. One will probably cost less than $2.

Cheers. Just what I needed to know.

Suggest you call them first and ensure they have it in stock. On the other hand, I did that with the Markham branch, drove out there, and had to go to the Scarborough branch because Markham didn't have what they thought they had in stock. :confused1:

^^ Ditto. I know for a fact that your local Brafasco may not stock stainless steel M8s. We order constantly from Brafasco in all different sizes and lenghts and always have to wait a week to receive the stuff as they almost never have any stainless stuff in stock.
