Who knows about fry pans??
My grocery store coated no stick fry pan has bit the dust a while back. Want to get stainless or titanium without coating.
Looking at these

Any thoughts?

And recall ...cost is a factor...given up on coated...they wear out too fast.

Have one along with a couple of teflon coated ones, but it's a Zwiilling J.A. Henckels, so might be too much.

"I love thee Wilma
With hair of silk
Lips like cherries
Skin like milk ...
Your shell like ears
Your dainty hands
and eyes so black

like frying pans"

if cost is a factor(and your health) go to a used goods store and buy a cast iron pan, they sell used for $20. thye older the better , cast metal and manufacturing was better when they cared . Learn how to use it and its non stick . Two of mine are over 100yrs old. I'll never wear them out either,

If you really want 'non" stick, look the titanium coated stainless , its as good as it gets right now but its $120/$140 a pan. Dont bother with the teflon anything "Rock" coating and the ceramic , it just fails later .

My favorite pan is over 100 years old and made n Brockville. Much better than modern cast iron.

Some of the new non-Teflon non stick fry pans can’t take high heat so be careful. As for advice I’m still searching as I bought a set of the snowflakey ones before I knew.

Living near the world's manufacturing center has its uses. Titanium pans not so premium.

Partner insists on putting fry pans in the dishwasher and won't let them stay seasoned so that rules out cast iron.

I think the laser etching is a tech advantage

If she insists on dishwasher, they are all fkd. Uncoated stainless will hold up the best to that abuse.

Got a high end Tfal coated that could be classified as a lethal weapon it's so heavy. From dottor in law. DINKs with high salaries and no kids so we get useful, expensive hand me downs. ( Qantas captain and Sheraton Hotels director ). We will likely get an off lease Tesla next year.
Partner approved and dishwasher tolerant so peace is kept....and for free as fits our pension income which is eroding far too quickly.

I don't want to pry into too many details but what is the main issue? Pension not indexed? Cpp indexed to Canada but oz inflation is higher? Cpp indexed to cpi which is bs and barely related to real inflation? Investment pool shrinking quickly?

Lots of ways for retirement to get harder, I'm trying to avoid as many as possible.

Not a problem in asking....I'm not shy about such things.
We are to some degree house poor ( paid off and worth about $800k) and the income from the remaining super ( $200k) does not cover our monthly outlay tho it is reasonably close. We draw down $800 a month ( mandated by super rules ) and we can just stay even if we are very careful - round figures gives us about $3500 a month to live on.
The real is issue is inflation and trying to budget for longer term ....both our parents made it to 95 - that's 17 years out.
It's the larger hits that forces drawdown of the super that hurts and this house has high upkeep cost as it is an old low Queenslander and the tropics are brutal on wooden structures....cost a couple thousand to repair a wall eaten by termites and eradicate them. New hot water system, $4k, rates go up, insurance goes up every year, food costs go up, tree service goes up...everything climbs tho big panels and battery will save us money over a decade....but it cost $14k even with the very substantial rebates.

We had a plan which saw us sell the house and build a granny flat underneath in laws place but that's indefinite now.
Easy to maintain, pool outside the patio door very good for my physical health and they are all big solar and battery. Positive tax implications for in laws too.
Space is accurate and using our existing furniture to scale.

That would have seen us with an additional $200k in the superfund plus way lower maintenance and property costs.
Still might come about - just not counting on it.
This would be below an existing house on a grade and the engineer approved it. 🍿
Partner won't move to an apartment and villas that used to be cheap an plentiful even 5 years ago ( 3 BR for $330 go for $500k....not worth it.
Current house we love as is pretty much entirely open air, rain forest in the back yard, gated paved... compound in the front for car and motorcycle...right now my view is pretty much 180 degrees from where I am sitting to the trees.
No furnace, a/c only as needed in the bedrooms....even my large bathroom is mostly open air....gets chilly in the rare single digit days....glad we got the hot water system changed from the solar.

I'm sitting on the couch and screen half wall to my left no shown is entirely open to the air. 60% of the house is.
It's bigger than we need but at this point unless it goes for a million there is nothing reasonable to downsize to.

Not wanting to be offensive, you could not give me a tfal pan . The microplastics that sluff off are horrible for you and to a lesser extent the planet.
Sorry your partner is obsessed with the dishwasher , you’re missing out on great cooking opportunities.

Isn't Teflon a forever plastic? Some early versions were machined into components and the machinists did't fare well.

IMO they'e OK for a grilled cheese sandwich or a quick fried egg.

The problem I have with thin pans is they warp when heated. Metal does that and thin metal is worse. An electric stove element isn't your friend.

Read up on the Maillard reaction.

Horror story: I got home from a bunch of errands and my wife tells me she spent the morning scraping the black stuff off of my cast iron pan. CRINGE

Put the pan in the over for a self clean cycle and it comes out factory naked. Wipe with oil and start over.

Yes they're heavy but if you can't stun a moose with it you'll never get to cook one.

Fantastic movie about forever chemicals - good backstory on Mark Ruffalo ( The Hulk ) regarding this flick.
Highly recommended, read the comments.
I'm too old to really be concerned and keeping the peace with partner more critical. This pan fits my needs.
I shall drizzle my pure virgin olive oil while cooking the roo and be content I have a heavy weapon at hand.
Here's the claim ...no Teflon now

I hand wash the pan anyways as in the tropics cockroachs love to lick oil off cooking gear....never ending battle with the buggers. Living with a former nurse has it's positives and negatives.
....mostly the former. :giggle:

My step kids use to scramble eggs with a metal fork in a Teflon pan. I made them watch “Dark Waters” and they were like “Yeah,so?” Now they have their own frying pan and I have one with a ceramic coating. We’ll see who dies of cancer first.
