GTA weather: Environment Canada warns of ‘golf ball-size hail,’ smog
Published 1 hours, 23 minutes ago

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Burlington and Oakville, as well as a smog advisory for all of Greater Toronto.

The agency says that as of 3 p.m. Friday, “weather radar indicates a strong thunderstorm over the north end of Hamilton and moving slowly northward toward Aldershot.”

It warns of “golf ball-size hail” and a potential “torrential rainfall.” Residents are advised to monitor the weather and take safety precautions in case of threatening weather.

When in doubt use Weather Underground's live weather feed! http://bit.ly/lV1h80

I only see a little sprinkle of rain, nothing serious, for Oakville.

Then you can't read radar
I saw it, was all forming north of Oakville, didn't see anything serious heading their way.

Pissing with rain here in Waterloo.
I didn't do Dover this afternoon cause it was so dam hot.
Has cooled off nice now.
Maybe when the roads dry I'll take a trip

Passed through Cambridge on the way back from Dover at just after 3 and ran into a serious thunderstorm. Water was 3" deep on 24/124. Lasted pretty much all the way into Geulph. Some fantastic lighting strikes and thunder. It's days like this I wish I brought my modular helmet.

That's nothing for most of you here, don't you all ride in winter, in 30 feet of snow, -45C or -1000C with wind and on ice?

I can't believe mighty GTAM-ers complaining about a little bit of rain and a few thunders here and there. :D

Wonder who got caught on the way to Dover.

Drivers (and golfers) beware of “golf ball-sized hail” in Hamilton.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the city, as storms are expected to continue throughout the day.

“It was like going through a car wash,” Steve McKay said. He had to pull over near Lime Ridge Mall Friday afternoon just before 3 p.m.

A large tree cracked and fell on a house at Tom Street and Dundurn Street North. Police blocked off the area around 4 p.m. while the tree was removed.

Similar reports were popping up on social media, with tweets and posted photos of hail chunks falling across the city.

Horizon Utilities is reporting a power outage in the area of King Street West to York Boulevard, from Breadalbane Street to Queen Street, affecting 944 customers. They are working to restore power now and expect it to return by 5:30 p.m.
